Pudgy Penguins背后的公司Igloo宣布，将于12月15日关闭其以太坊Layer-2网络Abstract。Igloo首席执行官Luca Netz表示，公司在Abstract上投入了18个月的时间，损失了数千万美元，最终决定不再从Pudgy Penguins的主营业务中抽调资金来维持该网络的运营。

Igloo为何停止注资
Luca Netz透露，公司在过去18个月内为Abstract提供了资金支持，累计亏损达数千万美元。他指出，Igloo“已无法再从Pudgy Penguins的业务中抽取资源”来继续资助这条链。
Abstract在其官方声明中将这一决定描述为两难选择：“要么继续在一条运营不可持续且未能实现规模扩张的链上耗尽资源，要么选择将其关闭。”

Abstract紧随Blast之后宣布关停
Abstract's announcement comes four days after another Ethereum Layer-2 network Blast announced the shutdown. Blast announced on October 2 that it would cease operations because its operating costs exceeded revenue. Blast, which peaked at $2.3 billion in deposits, said in a statement: "The continuing cost of maintaining Blast exceeds the revenue generated by L2, and we do not see a viable path to make this chain economically sustainable."
These two consecutive shutdowns reveal a common problem: The consumer-facing Ethereum (ETH) Layer-2 network, launched during the last cycle during the L2 boom, was relatively easy to attract an initial user base and brand collaboration, but it was difficult to translate that attention into fee revenue or total lock-in value (TVL) that could maintain ongoing operating costs.
At the time of the closure announcement, there were still approximately US$48 million in assets on the Abstract chain. Users need to transfer funds across chains before the shutdown date of December 15.
According to Netz, Igloo plans to refocus on its core Puggy Penguins business rather than advancing token offerings or seeking further financing for Abstract. Neither Netz nor Abstract's statements mentioned any alternative chain or infrastructure plans.
