WBTC U.S. government-linked wallets transfer approximately US$470 million in crypto assets to suspected Coinbase Prime addresses
According to blockchain analysis firm Arkham, on Wednesday, a U.S. government-linked wallet transferred approximately US$470 million worth of Bitcoin (BTC), Packaging Bitcoin (WBTC) and TEDA (USDT) to a suspected Coinbase Prime deposit address. Previously, online tracking data showed that government wallets had transferred approximately 833.6 BTC and 40,285 BNBs to Coinbase Prime on Tuesday.
Currently, no U.S. institution has made it clear whether these assets will be sold. In addition, some bitcoins originating from the Bitfinex hacking case may need to be returned to Bitfinex the same way, and the reserve order issued in 2025 also prohibits the sale of bitcoins in strategic bitcoin reserves.

Arkham pointed out that the bitcoins transferred this time came from asset seizure operations against Bitfinex hackers and Alameda Research. "The U.S. government has just transferred $470 million worth of BTC, WBTC and USDT to a suspected deposit address of Coinbase Prime," the company said in a statement on the X platform.
Not all bitcoins will be included in the national reserve. In January 2025, U.S. prosecutors filed an application with a federal court to return approximately 94,643 bitcoins seized in the 2016 Bitfinex hacking case to Bitfinex in physical form.
