勒索细节与威胁
2023年11月25日，莱恩向公司员工发送了一封电子邮件，威胁称若未收到款项，将继续关闭公司服务器。他索要约20枚比特币作为赎金以停止攻击。当时，这笔比特币的价值约为75万美元，折合每枚比特币约3.75万美元。目前尚不清楚公司是否支付了赎金。
联邦法院的认罪判决与量刑
莱恩已对两项指控认罪，罪名分别为：以损害受保护计算机为要挟进行敲诈勒索，以及故意损坏受保护计算机。美国新泽西东区联邦检察官罗伯特·弗雷泽（Robert Frazer）于2026年10月5日宣布了相关判决结果。
Lane spoke to U.S. District Judge Michael A. Heep in federal court in Trenton, New York. Shipp) pleaded guilty and accepted the sentence. On September 28, 2026, Judge Shipp sentenced Lane to 32 months in federal prison. The case was filed by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New Jersey. The investigation was led by special agents from the FBI's Newark office, with assistance from the Kansas City office.
Lane, who now lives in Kansas City, Missouri, will be sentenced to 32 months in prison for the cyber attack and Bitcoin extortion demands.
