Samsung cooperates with Solana to promote cross-border payments by U.S. users through USDC
Samsung announced that it will cooperate with Solana and plans to launch a new feature in the United States in late October 2026, allowing users to use USDC (U.S. dollar stablecoin) to make cross-border fund transfers. This feature will be available through Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay.
Major Mainstream Partnership
According to an official press release, this release will cover 82 million Galaxy devices in the United States. Whether to expand to other markets in the future will depend on local regulatory requirements. At the technical level, Solana will provide support in the background, allowing users to complete transfers without managing a separate encryption tool. In addition, Samsung Wallet will also integrate the fiat currency deposit and deposit channel, allowing users to directly exchange between their national currency and stablecoins within the application.
The technology giant said its goal is to make the stablecoin transfer experience as familiar and convenient as other features already in the wallet.
Woncheol Chai, senior vice president and head of the digital wallet team at Samsung Electronics 'mobile experience business unit, said: "Samsung Wallet is committed to making practical experiences simple and intuitive. Stable coins are expected to make global capital flows faster and more convenient, and we hope Galaxy users can take full advantage of this advantage without having to deal with the complexity of traditional encryption tools. Solana helped us realize this vision and scale it to Samsung's scale."
The cooperation comes as stablecoin activity on Solana's network continues to grow. According to statistics, the supply of stablecoins on the network increased by nearly 20% year-on-year. In 2026 alone, Solana handled more than US$5.25 trillion in stablecoin transactions. Companies such as PayPal and Western Union have also begun to use Solana for stableco-related businesses.
Despite such significant positive news, SOL prices have not received a significant boost. In the past 24 hours, the price of the cryptocurrency has dropped by approximately 3%. As of press time, its trading price was approximately $115.
Other developments
At the same time, the Solana Foundation officially joined the x402 Foundation in early April this year and became one of the founding members. The following month, the Swiss non-profit organization and Google Cloud jointly launched the Pay.sh platform. The platform allows AI agents to pay for API services using Solana-based stablecoins. This service eliminates the need for accounts, API keys and subscriptions, allowing agents to automatically process payments and bills through a gateway and access services independently.
