ALGO suffered profit-taking after rushing to US$0.14, weakening market confidence.
Algorand (ALGO) prices recently soared to US$0.14, and then triggered a sharp correction due to profit-taking. The decline in trading volume and open interest data sent a signal that traders 'confidence has weakened. If the daily closing price can stabilize above US$0.13, it is expected to regain bullish momentum.
Previously, a strong rally pushed ALGO to a high of US$0.14, attracting the attention of a large number of traders. The growing debate surrounding the "X402 Challenge" and expectations of Algorand's potential role in the AI proxy payment space have stimulated new market demand. Buying poured into the market, trying to take advantage of the momentum. However, this enthusiasm faded quickly. What seemed to be the beginning of a strong breakthrough quickly turned into a correction, making investors wonder whether the next round of rebound will come?
Speculative demand recedes, sellers take control
ALGO's pull-up towards US$0.14 is largely driven by speculative sentiment. Once the upward momentum slows, many traders choose to lock in profits. This wave of selling created strong resistance and prevented buyers from maintaining their upward trend. The refusal to rebound around $0.14 triggered a price decline towards $0.12, a one-day drop of about 10%, reflecting a significant shift in market sentiment. At the same time, spot trading activity also weakened.
Spot volume fell 28% to US$224 million, showing reduced participation as traders withdrew from the market. Conditions in the derivatives market showed a similar picture: open interest fell 20% to $76 million, while derivatives volume plunged 67% to $129 million. Such declines usually indicate a decrease in traders 'appetite for risk. Both open interest and trading volume declines often imply a decrease in speculative activity.
Many market participants chose to close their positions rather than open new positions. This trend usually leads to weaker price movements and reduced volatility. Selling pressure in the spot market has become particularly evident. Data showed that sales volume climbed to 423 million units. At the same time, the Spot Buy Sell Delta fell to minus 264 million. These data suggest that sellers dominated trading activity during the recent pullback.
Can ALGO recover and hit $0.14 again?
Technical indicators show that bearish pressure remains active. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) recently formed a bearish cross and fell back to 64. Although the reading is still above the neutral zone, kinetic energy has been significantly reduced. The decline in RSI highlights the strengthening of seller activity and weakening of buyer power. If current conditions persist, ALGO may lose its $0.12 support level. A break below that level could open the door for another wave of movement towards $0.11.
