Ripple has partnered with Meritz Securities to introduce custody and tokenization services into the Korean capital market.
Recently, Ripple announced a strategic alliance with Meritz Securities, a leading securities company in Korea, with the goal of bringing asset custody and tokenization technologies to the Korean capital market. This is Ripple’s first collaboration with a Korean securities firm, marking another important milestone in its expansion into the traditional financial sector.
By deepening their cooperation in institutional-level custody and tokenization services, both parties aim to explore the feasibility of integrating Ripple Custody and Ripple’s tokenization platform into the Korean capital market. With the increasing demand from institutional investors for digital assets, Ripple Custody is highly regarded for its ability to securely store, transfer, and settle digital assets.
In the initial stage, both parties will focus on integrating Meritz’s existing securities operations onto the blockchain, ensuring compliance with current regulatory frameworks. As Korea’s digital asset regulations continue to evolve, both parties plan to expand their cooperation gradually. Currently, Meritz is actively exploring opportunities to integrate digital assets into regulated financial systems. Its services include spot ETFs, fractional investments, securities-based tokens, trading platforms, and stablecoins denominated in Korean won.
Fiona Murray, Managing Director of Ripple Asia-Pacific, said, “South Korea is one of the most dynamic digital asset markets in the world. Local financial institutions are moving from concept exploration to practical applications. This partnership will provide strong support for this process.”
Ripple is accelerating its presence in South Korea’s crypto market
As the integration between traditional finance and the cryptocurrency industry continues to deepen, Ripple is working to strengthen its presence in South Korea’s market. After partnering with Kyobo Life Insurance, Kbank, and Jeonbuk Bank earlier this year, this collaboration with Meritz Securities brings Ripple to four institutional partners in South Korea by 2026, covering banks, insurance, and capital markets.
Previously, Jeonbuk Bank became the first local bank to use Ripple Payments for cross-border remittances. Now, through its partnership with Meritz, Ripple has established a network of institutions across various sectors of South Korea’s finance industry, demonstrating its commitment to the country’s long-term development.
Byungha Kang, Managing Director of Meritz Securities, said, “This partnership lays the foundation for combining Ripple’s global digital asset infrastructure with our capital market capabilities. As South Korea’s regulatory framework evolves, we will gradually introduce secure and reliable digital asset financial services.”
XRP price dynamics and market sentiment
Affected by this positive news, the price of XRP has seen a slight increase, with trading prices approaching its 24-hour high of $1.38. This represents an increase of approximately 4% compared to the 24-hour low. However, trading volume has decreased by 19% over the past 24 hours, indicating that traders are being cautious before the release of US CPI inflation data.
Data from the derivatives market indicates strong bullish sentiment. CoinGlass reports that there has been significant buying activity in the derivatives market over the past few hours. As of press time, the total value of open positions in XRP futures has increased by 0.31% in the past 4 hours, reaching $3.01 billion. Specifically, open positions in XRP futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and Binance increased by more than 0.22% and 0.75%, respectively.
This collaboration highlights the market's demand for secure, institutional-level encrypted hosting solutions, which is crucial for financial institutions wishing to integrate digital assets into traditional capital markets.
