Ripple has partnered with Privy, a wallet infrastructure provider owned by Stripe, to introduce embedded wallets into the XRP Ledger.
Ripple has established a partnership with Privy, a wallet infrastructure provider owned by Stripe, with the goal of integrating embedded wallets into the XRP Ledger. This collaboration allows developers to incorporate XRP, RLUSD, and other digital assets directly into their applications, without the need for custom wallet infrastructure.
This partnership, announced on October 13th, includes features such as programmable wallet creation, transaction signing, and support for automated payments. Transactions can be initiated by AI agents via the x402 protocol. Developers can provide cryptocurrency functionality using familiar authentication methods like email and social media accounts, eliminating the need for users to install separate wallets or manage private keys during registration processes.
Additionally, this integration supports the export of private keys and mnemonic phrases, allowing users to transfer wallets from applications based on Privy’s infrastructure, enabling flexible asset migration.
XRP and RLUSD payment functions are now fully integrated into applications.
Privy’s infrastructure enables financial technology companies, payment service providers, and application developers to programmatically create and manage XRP Ledger wallets. Applications can use these wallets to hold digital assets, sign transactions, and facilitate payments involving XRP, RLUSD, and other XRPL-issued assets.
This integration eliminates the need for developers to build their own wallets, key management systems, and transaction signing mechanisms. “Privy provides a verified wallet infrastructure, enabling fintech companies and developers to easily integrate XRPL into their products. This includes payment processing, stablecoin experiences, and emerging proxy-based business models,” said Markus Infanger, Senior Vice President at Ripple, in the announcement of the partnership.
This collaboration also expands Stripe’s influence in the field of cryptocurrency infrastructure. Stripe announced its acquisition of Privy in June 2025, and Privy will continue to operate as a separate product.
AI agents now have access to programmable XRP Ledger wallets.
This partnership also focuses on autonomous software that has the ability to hold funds and execute transactions. Privy’s server-side wallet allows developers to assign XRPL accounts to AI agents, enabling them to send payments for purchasing digital services, including transactions via the x402 protocol.
The x402 protocol enables machine-readable payment requests, allowing software to pay for services such as API access, data, and computing resources without traditional checkout processes. Previously, Ripple introduced an XRPL toolkit that supports transactions using XRP and RLUSD for wallet creation, balance checking, transaction execution, and x402 payments. Privy independently developed the “Proxy Wallet Authorization” feature, allowing software agents to perform transactions only with user-approved permissions.
This integration brings these infrastructure capabilities to XRPL, enabling applications to combine payment processing with programmable wallet management. Currently, AI-driven transactions are becoming more common in other blockchain networks. Coinbase’s x402 payment infrastructure has processed over 160 million transactions, and the Base network has recorded significant amounts of data related to automated stablecoin payments.
Privy plans to add more options for transaction control
. According to data from Privy’s collaboration announcements, the XRP Ledger currently has over 8 million funded accounts, and it has processed transfers worth over one trillion dollars throughout its history. Both companies plan to expand these integration features by introducing more strategic control and transaction fees and sponsorship options .
Strategic control allows developers to have greater control over wallet activities, while fee sponsorship and enable applications to bear some of the blockchain transaction costs on behalf of users. These features are part of the planned improvements, not those that were confirmed to be available in the initial integration.
Privy has released documentation for developers regarding XRPL integration. The creation of programmable wallets and the signing of transactions form the foundation of this Ripple partnership.
