Zcash, as a significant player in the cryptocurrency market, has experienced a sharp correction after experiencing a recent significant rise. According to CoinGlass, ZEC prices are trading in a range of $1,090 to $1,120, down about 10% to 12% over the past 24 hours. Despite a pullback from a near high of $1,298 recorded on September 9, Zcash maintained its 15% gain on a weekly scale.

What caused the decline?

The price decline triggered the liquidation of approximately US$27.6 million worth of ZEC futures contracts within 24 hours. At the same time, open interest fell to approximately $2.11 billion. At the same time, futures trading volume generally remained at a significant level of US$8.3 billion, indicating continued market participation. By comparison, spot trading volume was approximately US$760 million.

The significant decline in prices highlights the deleveraging process of leveraged positions, pointing to a decrease in open contract volume from peak levels.

The role of Grayscale: Does it have an impact?

Yes, grayscale Zcash ETFs have always been an important force in the market. According to the fund's official data, as of September 8, the ETF reached approximately US$533 million and managed approximately 464,515 ZECs. Gray is a key entity among major investment product providers focusing on digital assets, and its movements are closely tracked to measure institutional needs.

Although the fund has increased in size from about $463 million in previous days, not all of the growth has been due to new inflows. The rapid appreciation of ZEC prices has also promoted the value of assets under management. In the recent breakthrough of $1,200, ETF demand, tight market supply and aggressive derivatives positions combined to play a role.

The key range currently closely watched by the market is between US$1,050 and US$1,100. If this range is maintained, it may indicate that buyer interest is still there. Conversely, a clear break below $1,050 could accelerate the deleveraging process and bring lower technical support into focus. The current market landscape provides the following key points:

  • The significant decline in open interest volume suggests that traders 'risk appetite has turned conservative.
  • Huge leverage still exists, as evidenced by US$8 billion in futures trading volume.
  • Price stability in the US$1,050 to US$1,100 range may imply continued buyer confidence.
  • The continued impact of leverage on market dynamics highlights the potential for subsequent price movements, regardless of direction, to increase volatility. This structure is expected to amplify price swings and require caution from all parties involved in Zcash transactions.
