Sui Network reached an important chain milestone: Cumulative transactions reached 16.17 billion.
Sui Network recently achieved a significant chain milestone. SuiVision browser data shows that its cumulative transaction volume has reached 16.17 billion, involving 229.98 million accounts. To vividly illustrate this achievement, the Internet made a vivid analogy: the time span of 16 billion seconds is equivalent to approximately 520 years.
Analysis of Key Network Indicators
According to the SuiVision dashboard, the peak throughput of the network reached 1,318 transactions per second at the time of the announcement. Currently, a total of 126 verifiers participate in the consensus mechanism, and the number of $SUI tokens natively pledged to ensure network security reaches 6.98 billion. These numbers reflect real-time operating conditions of the main network rather than a controlled stress testing environment, so they more truly reflect actual needs in the real world.
Sui's architecture is built around parallel transaction execution and an object-centric data model, which allows the network to process individual transactions simultaneously rather than processing them one by one in sequence. The Mysticeti consensus upgrade launched in 2024 reduces consensus latency by approximately 80%, and even at extremely high throughput, the final confirmation time is close to 390 milliseconds. It is this infrastructure that supports the throughput data currently displayed in browsers.
Macro background behind the data
The completion of 16 billion transactions comes at a time when the ecosystem is rapidly expanding. Sui's cumulative number of active addresses has exceeded 228 million, and the total locked position value (TVL) of decentralized finance (DeFi) has reached a peak of US$2.6 billion. Recently, as institutional capital flows into tokenized real-world assets on the chain, TVL on Sui has almost tripled, breaking the threshold of US$5 billion.
At the institutional level, Sui has entered its third year since it was launched on the main network in May 2023. Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group has listed SUI futures contracts, making Sui the fourth Layer-1 blockchain to enter the CME-regulated derivatives market after Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana.
The milestone of 16 billion transactions is just one data point in the network's continued upward trend. Whether future adoption rates will remain at current levels will depend on developer activity, broader market conditions, and the continued evolution of the agreement as it moves towards the October 2026 Basecamp event.
