Robinhood Crypto Asset News: Trading volume climbed 61% in August
This report covers Robinhood's latest operating data as of August 2026. According to the company's official monthly report released on September 10, 2026, the total nominal transaction volume of crypto assets during the month reached US$17.5 billion, an increase of 61% from July. However, compared with a year ago, this number is down 38%. At the same time, the number of fund accounts and total assets of the platform also achieved growth during the same period.
Trading volume rose 61% to US$17.5 billion.
The core data for this update is the monthly total. Company reports showed nominal trading volume in August was $17.5 billion, compared with $10.9 billion in June. Average daily trading volume for the month was US$565 million, also an increase of 61% from the previous month (US$352 million).
From an annual comparison, the situation is different. Data showed that activity in August 2026 fell 38% from the US$28.1 billion recorded in the same period last year.
Internal applications and Bitstamp jointly contribute to growth
The above data consists of two sources: the company's own applications and Bitstamp, the exchange it acquired.
Source Total month-on-month change in August (vs July) year-on-year change (vs August 2025) Proprietary apps $7.4 billion +72%-46%Bitstamp $10. 1 billion +53%-30% Total $17.5 billion +61%-38% Transaction volume from both sources increased from July. Although Bitstamp still accounts for a larger share of the dollar, its own apps are growing faster in percentage terms. The average daily average followed the same trend: average daily trading volume for owned apps reached $239 million, compared with $326 million for Bitstamp.
Fund accounts rose in line with total platform assets
In addition to a single volume indicator, this update also points to broader account growth. As of the end of August, the number of fund accounts reached 28.6 million, an increase of approximately 120,000 from July and an increase of nearly 1.9 million from a year ago.
Total assets of the platform were US$384 billion, an increase of 8% from July and a 26% increase from a year ago. Net deposits for the period were $4 billion, which the company described in its report as an annualized growth rate of 14% relative to the July asset base.
There are also changes in other product lines
As a newer product, event contracts have seen significant annual growth rates, although their number has dropped since July. Data showed that the company processed 4.7 billion such contracts, which was 23% lower than previous data, but still 15 times that of the same period last year.
Stock turnover was US$335 billion, a slight increase from July and a 68% increase from the same period last year. The total number of options contracts traded was 293 million, down 10% year-on-year, but up 50% year-on-year.
In addition, Robinhood Chain's data are completely independent of the above totals. Sequencer revenue on the chain is shared with start-up partners:
- For the initial portion of approximately US$50 million, the company retains 50%;
- for the portion up to approximately US$150 million, the company retains 70%;
- for any portion beyond the mark, the company retains 85%.
Expert interpretation of August data
The sharp fluctuations in a single month cannot erase the downward trend of the past twelve months, and both are important here. Reading the two together provides a more comprehensive picture than looking at any data alone.
The steady growth in fund accounts and platform assets suggests that broader account momentum is not just related to a single product line, as stock and options turnover also rose.
These figures have not been audited and are preliminary, so the final figures in subsequent quarterly filings may differ slightly from this snapshot. Given that such data tend to fluctuate rapidly from cycle to cycle, this report is best viewed as a data point rather than an established trend.
Conclusion
This report covers the company's operating data for August 2026, focusing on the 61% month-on-month jump in transaction volume to US$17.5 billion. This data is composed of owned applications and Bitstamp. During the same period, the number of fund accounts reached 28.6 million, and total platform assets climbed to US$384 billion, although crypto asset activity remained 38% below the level of a year ago.
