Mesh SDK released: The dual-chain wallet development kit that unifies Cardano and Bitcoin
@meshsdk has launched integrated $ADA (Cardano) and $BTC (Bitcoin) wallet SDKs, providing developers with a unified interface to build applications on both Cardano and Bitcoin networks. The release, funded by Project Catalyst, a Cardano community funding program, marks an important step forward in the field of cross-chain developer tools for the most active open source self-organizing team in the ecosystem.
Overview of core functions of the SDK
Mesh is an open source, production-ready TypeScript SDK for Cardano blockchain development. The new wallet extension adds support for Bitcoin on this basis, achieving dual-chain compatibility through a single developer interface. The bag contains the following key features:
- Headless Wallet (Headless Wallets): Supports lightweight integration;
- Bitcoin basic components : Address processing and script management functions, designed to be consistent with the logic familiar to Cardano developers, reducing learning costs;
- Full-link signature support : Covers transaction signing and data processing for both networks.
All code is released under the Apache 2.0 license, and relevant documentation has also been made public. In terms of connectivity, the SDK connects with Xverse and other Bitcoin browser extensions through the unified Sats Connect API; on the Cardano side, it integrates wallet management, transaction builder, data tool library, smart contract library and blockchain node provider into one SDK. A full set of functions such as provider.
Progress on Project Catalyst's 14th round of funding
The project is part of the Catalyst Fund 14 proposal submitted by Mesh, with a total budget of 100,000 ADA. Currently, four of the five milestones have been approved by "certificates of achievement", and the fifth is awaiting final conclusion. As of now, a total of 76,000 ADA funds have been released.
Project Catalyst is the growth engine and funding program of the Cardano blockchain ecosystem. It holds multiple rounds of funding allocations regularly and invests special funds into community-proven innovative ideas. After 13 rounds of community voting, more than 3 million votes have participated, and more than $100 million has been distributed to proposals approved by the community. Catalyst has become an important incubation platform for Cardano developers.
What it means for developers
For developers who already use Mesh on the Cardano platform, the new Bitcoin extension significantly reduces the cost of building multi-chain applications, eliminating the need to maintain separate tool chains for different networks, thereby improving development efficiency and engineering consistency.
