Ripple deepens corporate treasury management layout: reshaping traditional financial processes with AI
Ripple is fully upgrading the treasury management software business it acquired to an intelligent agent system based on artificial intelligence (AI). The move gives investors a clearer view that the company's expansion beyond its cryptocurrency payments business is yielding tangible results.
As a core asset acquired for US$1 billion last year, Ripple Treasury (formerly the GTreasury platform) has embedded an artificial intelligence system called GSmart. The newly upgraded GSmart covers multiple key areas such as cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, account reconciliation, risk monitoring and financial reporting. Although the prototype of GSmart's technology was launched by GTreasury long before the Ripple acquisition, this release marks Ripple's deep integration of AI capabilities into its enterprise-level treasury platform that it has spent a lot of money to build, transforming the acquisition into a broader enterprise software strategy with AI and digital assets at its core.
Initial outline of a billion-dollar treasury strategy
When Ripple announced the acquisition of GTreasury in October 2025, the core of its strategy was to enter the field of corporate treasury management and connect traditional cash management with stablecoins, tokenized assets and fast payment networks. GTreasury has more than 40 years of treasury software experience and has extensive connectivity to major banks and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Ripple's vision is to ultimately provide a unified platform for the finance department to manage both traditional funds and digital assets by superimposing its payment network and digital asset infrastructure. The latest GSmart extensions add a new dimension to this argument. According to Ripple, smart agents can monitor treasury processes and recommend actions in areas such as forecasting, planning, liquidity, risk, reconciliation and reporting.
In addition, the platform has introduced a "Knowledge Studio" as a policy layer that allows companies to encode internal limits and control rules to standardize the scope of recommendations for smart agents; and the "Analytics Studio" includes the "Ask GSmart" dialogue tool that allows users to query financial data and generate reports.
AI is responsible for recommendations, humans retain approval power
The most eye-catching part of Ripple's design is its deliberate restriction on AI permissions. While each smart agent can identify problems and propose a course of action, it must cite specific company policies that support the recommendation and wait for manual approval before implementing it.
Ripple Treasury emphasized that proposals, policy citations, approvers and timestamps are retained to form a complete audit trajectory. More importantly, financial calculations remain isolated from generative AI. The platform pointed out that the data used in the proposal was generated by deterministic software rather than created out of thin air by AI models. In corporate treasury management, this distinction is crucial: Misunderstandings generated by AI can be inconvenient, but if fictitious cash balances, hedged amounts, or payment data appear, they can pose serious financial control risks.
This architecture effectively divides responsibilities: traditional software handles mathematical calculations, AI interprets data and policies, and humans still have the responsibility to approve actual financial actions.
Customers have begun to enable relevant tools
Ripple also provides the first adoption rate indicators, although these numbers are self-reported by the company and only apply to customers who qualify for the appropriate functionality. Data shows that 60% of qualified customers have enabled Risk Insights to identify exposure anomalies and potential policy violations;44% of customers use Forecast Insights to compare forecast cash flows with actual results and reveal potential liquidity gaps.
Because Ripple does not disclose its base of qualified customers, these percentages should not be considered as an overall adoption rate for its entire customer base. Currently, the company's revenue, contract value and financial return on the billion-dollar acquisition have not been disclosed. However, the product direction has become increasingly clear: Ripple has not spent huge sums just to attach encrypted channels to existing treasury systems, but has purchased an enterprise software platform and is pushing AI to integrate more deeply into the actual workflow of corporate cash, risk and payment management.
It is worth noting that the cryptocurrency company no longer relies mainly on XRP prices or token performance to promote its expansion, but instead focuses on software features, governance mechanisms and automation capabilities.
