QNT Gilbert Verdian: Cross-border pioneer from government core to blockchain standards
Gilbert Verdian is not a typical cryptocurrency founder. Before founding Quant Network, he worked at the intersection of government, finance and cybersecurity for more than 20 years. His career history covered well-known institutions such as Downing Street, the UK Treasury, MasterCard and HSBC.
From government corridor to blockchain standard-setter
Verdian has more than 20 years of cybersecurity experience and has held executive positions such as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO). His career spanned government, including Downing Street, the UK Treasury and the Cabinet Office, and also entered the private sector, serving companies such as MasterCard, Vocalink and HSBC.
Before founding Quant, his last job was as Chief Information Security Officer at Vocalink. During this period, he was responsible for ensuring the security of the UK's payment infrastructure, covering key systems such as the Bank of England's BACS, fast payments, Link Networks, checking and credit plans.
In 2015, Verdian launched the blockchain ISO standard TC307 initiative and served as convenor of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Interoperability Working Group WG7. In addition, he also serves on many important institutions such as the Federal Reserve Committee, the European Union Blockchain Observatory, the PayUK Cybersecurity Committee, and the UK Government Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Committee.
