Z-TEXT is a private instant messaging application built based on the BitcoinZ blockchain and is now officially launched. The app does not require a mobile phone number, email address, SIM card or authentication (KYC). Currently, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux users can download the experience, and the iOS version will soon be available on the App Store.
How it works
Each Z-TEXT message is transmitted on the BitcoinZ network in the form of blocked transactions. zk-SNARKs (zero-knowledge proof system) verifies the validity of each transaction without revealing the identity information of the sender or recipient. The message content is encrypted on the device side using the AES-256-GCM algorithm to ensure that only the recipient can read it. The user's identity is generated by mnemonic words rather than relying on mobile phone numbers or email addresses, and can be discarded and replaced at any time.
Z-TEXT runs on a three-tier architecture: the BitcoinZ blockchain ensures decentralization and data permanence;zk-SNARKs provides privacy protection; and is resistant to quantum cryptography (ML-KEM-768, enabled since v3.7.0) to protect against future quantum computer attacks on key exchanges.
One chain and five uses
Z-TEXT integrates five functions into one application: instant messaging, BTCZ wallet, on-chain password manager, broadcast feature called "Channels", and one-time identity system. Each identity corresponds to a separate 24-word mnemonic that unlocks all five functions.
The fee for sending a message is 0.0002 BTCZ: 0.0001 BTCZ is used as a network handling fee, and 0.0001 BTCZ is paid to the recipient. In normal round-trip conversations, this amount is refunded with each reply, so the actual cost per message is approximately 0.0001 BTCZ.
Network and Authentication
The first block of BitcoinZ was mined on September 10, 2017. The network supports GPU mining without requiring dedicated hardware. An independent security review report released in June 2026 confirmed the integrity of its token supply.
Z-TEXT does not issue BTCZ and does not control the BitcoinZ blockchain. The company does not accept venture capital financing and operates an active vulnerability bounty program that rewards up to $1,500 for each valid discovery, paid out in ZEC from a publicly available pool.
Management Statement
Z-TEXT founder Eric Pierrot said: "I believe in zk-SNARKs just as some people believe in freedom of speech. Whether it is a whistle blower, a reporter, or anyone who needs to speak out without being suppressed, you should not trust a company. They should be protected by mathematics, not privacy policies."
Usability
Wallet functions, reading saved data, and browsing Channels are all free and require no license. License codes for unlocking messaging, creating new password manager entries, Channels posts and one-time identities starting at US$3 per month and supporting payments in multiple mainstream cryptocurrencies.
