XRPL moves towards a new phase: the deep integration of privacy, scalability and institutional infrastructure
Schwartz will attend a seminar titled "Building the Future of XRPL" with Ayo Akinyele, Senior Director of Engineering at RippleX, in New York on October 28 at 4:30 pm (EDT). Ripple said the dialogue will cover topics such as privacy protection, scalability and institution-level infrastructure, and explore how XRPL transcends its original payment application scenarios.
This timing is quite profound. Currently, XRPL is in one of the busiest upgrade cycles in 2026. The new protocol functions cover atomic transactions, entrusted account permissions, confidential transfers, and institutional lending.
Privacy is becoming a core element of the XRPL protocol
One of the most prominent themes is "confidential finance." XRPL version 3.3.0 introduces a ConfidentialTransfer amendment that aims to use zero-knowledge proof and EC-ElGamal encryption technology to hide the balance of multi-purpose tokens and the transfer amount. Authorizers can still verify supplies and meet regulatory obligations, thereby ensuring auditability while providing privacy protection for the agency.
This move directly echoes Ripple's recent push for privacy protection. This view holds that before banks migrate sensitive financial activities onto the chain, public blockchains must have selective confidentiality capabilities. Akinyele plays a key role in this process: Ripple describes him as a cryptographer focused on privacy, scale expansion and institutional infrastructure.
AI agents may turn into direct users of XRPL
Artificial intelligence is another increasingly concrete part of the roadmap. In June this year, Ripple launched the XRPL AI Starter Kit, which includes a payment system based on the X402 standard and using XRP and RLUSD. The system was designed to allow autonomous agents to pay for API calls, computing resources and other digital services without having to be approved by humans for every transaction.
This creates a completely different potential payment market for XRP: software pays other software.
Network programmability continues to increase
Networks are adding the underlying infrastructure to support more complex financial workflows. The latest XRPL upgrades include BatchV1_1, which allows up to eight transactions to be combined into one batch, and PermissionDelegationV1_1, which allows accounts to grant limited rights without sharing master keys.
With these changes, institutional DeFi is also expanding simultaneously. Ripple's roadmap combines restricted domain, voucher, lending and confidential transfer capabilities to support a regulated chain market. In addition, relevant reports also pointed out that the network is promoting lending business, aiming to directly introduce the credit function native to the agreement into XRPL.
