BitGo opens new office in Singapore, Asia Pacific managing director Angela Ang reveals that customer base has tripled
Digital asset infrastructure company BitGo has announced a major physical expansion move: it has opened a new office in Singapore to strengthen its business and product layout in the region. The move further consolidates Singapore's position as a regional hub for BitGo Asia Pacific (APAC).
Asia-Pacific customer base tripled
Since receiving the Major Payment Institution (MPI) license issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in August 2024, BitGo's Asia-Pacific customer base has tripled. In the past two years, BitGo's Singapore team has more than doubled the number of employees as its regional business has expanded.
BitGo's Asia Pacific business showed strong growth momentum during Angela Ang's tenure as Managing Director of Asia Pacific and President of BitGo Singapore. Angela Ang was appointed Managing Director of BitGo Asia Pacific and President of BitGo Singapore in June 2026. Prior to joining BitGo, she served as head of public policy and strategic cooperation for the Asia-Pacific region for blockchain intelligence company TRM Labs. Prior to this, she worked at MAS for more than ten years.
Her background is highly consistent with BitGo's Singapore strategy. During his tenure at MAS, Ang led the team that helped establish and operate the Singapore payment and cryptocurrency licensing system.
Institutional trust is improved, compliance services are fully upgraded
Angela Ang, managing director of BitGo Asia Pacific, said at the opening of the new office: "Two years ago, BitGo Singapore received an MPI license from MAS, and we have since established a real foothold in the region." She added in her LinkedIn post that as digital asset adoption increases, organizations in the Asia-Pacific region are entrusting more and more of their business to BitGo.
It is worth noting that BitGo's presence in the Asia Pacific region is not new. It has been operating in Singapore since 2015 and maintains cooperation with institutions and digital asset companies across Asia. In August 2024, after BitGo obtained the MPI license issued by MAS, Singapore became a key market that it paid more attention to.
This license allows BitGo Singapore to provide regulated digital payment token services. In November 2024, the company launched an expanded Singapore service package covering digital asset custody, trading, settlement and token management.
The institutional trading business has expanded significantly
This growth is also reflected in BitGo's institutional trading business. Currently, Singapore has the largest trading desk within BitGo Prime, BitGo's institutional trading and financing business. BitGo Prime connects global liquidity through exchanges, market makers and other liquidity providers, and combines transactions with BitGo's custody infrastructure.
Data shows that compared with the same period in 2025, the transaction volume at Singapore's trading desk in the first half of 2026 also more than doubled.
An important step in global expansion strategy
The new office is expected to support further expansion plans. BitGo said it plans to continue recruiting talent in customer coverage and business operations positions in Singapore, hoping that the local team can support the growing demand for regulated digital asset infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region.
The background of this Asia-Pacific expansion is that its subsidiary BitGo Korea has obtained a direct VASP license in South Korea. At the same time, BitGo is gradually moving beyond its traditional identity as a crypto asset custody provider and is committed to building a broader institutional digital asset platform.
Last month, the company completed its acquisition of NYDIG's institutional trading business. With this acquisition, BitGo adds derivatives, structured products, financing and capital markets capabilities to its existing custody, trading, clearing and wallet infrastructure. As part of the deal, about 30 NYDIG employees joined BitGo.
Today, the opening of the Singapore office marks a major milestone in BitGo's physical expansion beyond its digital infrastructure.
