Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong: Bitcoin reaching $400,000 by 2030 is a "reasonable goal"
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said that Bitcoin reaching $400,000 by 2030 is a "reasonable goal." In a recent interview, Armstrong reiterated his long-term outlook for Bitcoin. He pointed out that this price forecast is based on multiple factors, covering market cycles, regulatory developments and institutional capital inflows.
Market Cycle and Bottom Confirmation
Armstrong believes that Bitcoin may continue its roughly four-year market cycle pattern. He noted that these cycles are usually followed by a longer adjustment period after a strong rebound and market mania. Coinbase's CEO said Bitcoin's recent decline may be coming to an end.
Armstrong pointed out: "Normally, there is a rise first, followed by a craze period, followed by a decline. Most downturns last about a year, and in the current downturns, we have crossed the one-year threshold."
Regarding Bitcoin's recent rebound after gaining support around US$60,000, Armstrong believes that the bottom of the latest market cycle may have been established. He said: "Personally, I think the bottom of Bitcoin's latest cycle is over. We are already starting to see it pick up from around $60,000."
Regulatory Framework and Institutional Admission
Armstrong believes that regulatory developments in the United States played an important role in setting his $400,000 target on Bitcoin. He specifically mentioned the CLARITY Act, which is closely watched by investors, which aims to clarify the legal framework of the cryptocurrency market. However, Armstrong emphasized that even if the bill fails to pass, Bitcoin's upward trend may continue. Even if the bill is aborted, subsequent regulatory rules may still have a decisive impact on the direction of the market.
Armstrong believes that the passage of the CLARITY Act will be particularly beneficial for institutional investors to enter the cryptocurrency market. He noted that clearer regulations would remove significant uncertainties for banks and asset managers, and described the bill as a "regulatory checklist."
Coinbase's CEO said: "This will be a huge milestone. It will pave the way for institutional capital and introduce products such as tokenized stocks to the United States. This will be a very positive signal for the entire industry."
Macro Environment and Future Outlook
Armstrong also believes that pressures on global bond markets may support demand for alternative assets such as Bitcoin. If these factors work together, Coinbase's CEO believes Bitcoin will enter another strong bull cycle in the next few years and is expected to reach $400,000 in 2030.
