Bitcoin's rise on Sunday, bringing back into the spotlight the dramatic price behavior of the past few weeks. Analyst Ali Martinez pointed out in his October 4 comment that Bitcoin (BTC) could face a correction on Monday after experiencing Sunday's gains. In addition, sell signals also appeared on the four-hour charts of Ethereum and Solana. [TAG
The first key point Martinez points out is the reversal in price movements between Sunday and Monday in recent weeks. The second warning comes from the TD Sequential indicator. Historically, Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana have all fallen after similar signals.
Bitcoin rose on Sunday. What is the trend on Monday?
Looking back over the past month, after Bitcoin took action on Sunday, Monday tended to move in the opposite direction. This shift in direction was observed in all five "Sundays and Monday" pairing cases shared by Ali Martinez.
- For example, on Sundays, August 29 and September 6, Bitcoin rose by 0.50% and 0.66% respectively, while on the following Monday, the price fell by 0.68% and 1.54% respectively.
- On September 13 and 20, Bitcoin fell 0.57% and 0.10% respectively on Sunday, but rose 1.75% and 6.71% respectively on Monday.
- On September 27, Bitcoin's volatility on Sunday was only a slight 0.01% increase, but the price fell back by 1.12% on the following Monday.
Although the sample size of these five weeks is not enough to constitute an absolute iron market law, Bitcoin's increase of more than 1% on October 4 did once again draw investors 'attention to this historical reversal pattern.
What does a TD Sequential sell signal mean?
From a technical perspective, the second alert comes from the TD Sequential indicator. This indicator aims to identify key nodes where current price momentum may be lost.
Martinez pointed out that a sell signal has been formed on Bitcoin's four-hour chart, and the market has experienced corrections after four previous similar signals. Specifically, during these periods, Bitcoin fell by 1.74%, 4.37%, 3.11% and 1.96%, respectively.
To be clear, this data does not mean that Bitcoin will inevitably fall by the same amount, but it suggests that the possibility of a technical correction in the short term is re-emerging after the current rise.
Bitcoin Price Analysis: What happens if it exceeds $87,500?
Are Ethereum and Solana facing the same risks? Similar signals are not unique to Bitcoin. TD Sequential sell signals also appeared on the four-hour charts of Ethereum and Solana.
Data shows that Ethereum fell by 5.40% and 3.31% respectively after the first two similar signals; while Solana's adjustments after the last three similar signals reached 2.44%, 5.76% and 5.30% respectively.
As a result, potential market pullbacks may not be limited to Bitcoin. However, past technical signals do not guarantee the same results in the future; the key is to observe how current signals are verified by price movements.
Can Bitcoin break through US$87,500?
Affected by weaker-than-expected U.S. employment data released on Friday, Bitcoin briefly exceeded $87,000, but then fell back below $84,000. Bitget Wallet research analyst Lacie Zhang views $87,500 as a key resistance level in Bitcoin's broader recovery.
According to CoinGecko, at the time of writing, Bitcoin was trading for just over $86,000. In the past 24 hours, BTC has risen by about 1.5% and about 4% in the past seven days. Cumulative gains over the two-week period are about 6%, while gains over the past 30 days have exceeded 8%.
Despite this, Bitcoin is still down about 31% from the beginning of the year, and is also about 31% short of its all-time high of $126,000.
What happens if Bitcoin falls below $82,000?
While the upper resistance level is US$87,500, the lower US$82,000 -85,000 range is considered an important support area. Zhang pointed out that losing this area could open up room for Bitcoin to accelerate its decline below $80,000.
So, for Monday, the key question is not just whether Bitcoin will pull back, but also whether potential selling pressure will be supported in the US$82,000 -85,000 range, which will determine the short-term market outlook.
Time will tell whether Bitcoin's rise on Sunday will reverse on Monday. However, the current situation shows that the first decision point facing investors is very clear: a breakthrough of US$87,500 can enhance upward momentum, and irregularities in support areas can quickly change the technical pattern.
