Litecoin celebrates its 15th anniversary milestone: Continued stable operation, Grayscale seeks to launch an ETF on the New York Stock Exchange
Since the launch of the Genesis Block in 2011, Litecoin (LTC) has achieved a milestone of uninterrupted operation for 15 consecutive years, demonstrating its status as one of the most enduring digital assets. Its blockchain network continues to operate efficiently, reflecting the asset's stability and key role in the cryptocurrency space.
Anniversary highlights longevity and efficiency
On the occasion of the anniversary, Zach Pandl, head of research at Grayscale, pointed out that there has been a significant increase in market attention to Litecoin. He described Litecoin as an "OG altcoin", emphasizing its long-standing reputation as a fundamental, time-tested asset in the digital currency environment.
Litecoin maintains an extremely low average transaction fee of just US$0.003, making its network a cost-effective alternative to Bitcoin in daily transactions. The security of its blockchain is supported by a computing power of 2,671.43 terahashes per second (TH/s) and a user base of 9.1 million active addresses. These indicators show that the user community maintains a high degree of participation and sustained trust in the Litecoin network.
Zah Pander, head of research at Grayscale, once again reiterated Litecoin's reputation as an "old altcoin" and confirmed that the asset has maintained a strong fundamental value for many years.
Small Dictionary of Terms: Hashrate refers to the total computing power used to protect and process transactions on the Proof-of-Work blockchain, which measures the health and security of networks such as Litecoin and Bitcoin.
Gray Target: Convert trust funds to New York Stock Exchange-listed ETFs
As a leading digital asset management company, Gray holds a significant commercial interest in Litecoin through its "Grayscale Litecoin Trust"(code: LTCN). This product is currently the largest institutional litecoin investment vehicle, managing net assets of US$97.56 million and issuing 24.25 million outstanding shares.
In September this year, Gray filed a revised application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to convert the trust fund into a spot ETF and list it on NYSE Arca. Although the company is still awaiting regulatory approval, the smaller Litecoin fund operated by Canary Capital has already started trading. However, for investors seeking large-scale exposure to Litecoin, Gray's trust products remain the main entry channel.
