Genius Group restarts Bitcoin reserve strategy

Singapore-based education company Genius Group (American Stock Exchange: GNS) has resumed buying bitcoins. The company, which previously sold all 440 Bitcoin holdings to pay off debt, is now rebuilding its reserves from scratch.

Does Genius Group hold Bitcoin?

Genius Group announced on October 6 that it had acquired 10 bitcoins for approximately US$854,000. This is the company's first Bitcoin purchase after emptying the treasury to repay debt, and the first purchase since the U.S. appeals court lifted a two-year legal ban that froze its financing activities.

These 10 bitcoins were purchased between October 2 and October 5, with an average unit price of US$85,364 each. CEO Roger James Hamilton called the purchase a "modest" move and said it was intended to send a signal to shareholders and the market that the company had resumed its bitcoin accumulation strategy.

Genius Group claims to be an AI-driven education group serving 6 million users in more than 100 countries around the world. Since the end of 2024, the company has implemented a "Bitcoin First" policy. The board voted to hold 90% or more of reserves in Bitcoin and supported the corporate treasury model promoted by Michael Saylor's Strategy.
