The U.S. Treasury Department transfers approximately US$1 billion worth of bitcoins
On Thursday, a transfer operation occurred at a U.S. government wallet address that held bitcoins seized in the 2016 Bitfinex hack, involving a total amount of 12,267 bitcoins worth approximately US$1 billion.
According to blockchain analysis company Arkham, the transfer was completed as a single transaction at 9:33 a.m. EST. The vast majority of the funds were transferred to a new, unmarked address, and no funds flowed to the exchange.
