Users holding Humanity or Beldex balances must withdraw before September 25, 2026
Users holding Humanity or Beldex balances on the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken must withdraw them before 14:00 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) on September 25, 2026. After that, Kraken will liquidate any remaining balances on its own between September 28 and October 2. The exchange pointed out in its notice that the liquidation proceeds may be much lower than the reference prices seen recently, and in some cases may be negligible or even zero.
There are four token symbols affected, but only two items are involved: $H and $HUMANITY on one side, and $BDX and $BELDEX on the other. The reasons for duplicate positions can be traced back to several months. Both projects were attacked in June 2026, and both launched new token contracts, and Kraken automatically credited the new tokens to customer accounts. Therefore, for any user who owns Humanity or Beldex in Kraken in June 2026, there will always be two records in their portfolio and they can be obtained without any user action. Both records are valid at the same minute on the same day.
Kraken's actual operating process at 14:00 UTC on September 25, 2026
Kraken has issued one support announcement for each project, and both announcements contain the same timeline. Trading and recharge functions for all four token symbols have been permanently disabled; the only remaining function is withdrawal, which is transfer outside the exchange address. This withdrawal window will close on September 25, 2026 at 14:00 UTC. From September 28 to October 2, 2026, the liquidation phase will enter, during which Kraken will sell any remaining balances without the need for account holders to participate.
For you, this means there is only one action left to change the status quo and a deadline. Selling through the exchange order book is no longer an option because trading has long ceased. Missing the deadline will not convert your tokens into cash; instead, it will leave pricing power and timing to Kraken.
Why two positions suddenly appear in the account: snapshot, airdrop and new contract
These two situations follow the same pattern. The attacker exploited a vulnerability in the project's bridging infrastructure to generate unsupported tokens, and the project party then deactivated the old contract and issued a new one. To ensure that no one was disenfranchised, the project party went back to the balance records taken before the attack and distributed new tokens to them on a one-to-one basis. Kraken handles the distribution process for its customers and credits the new tokens directly to their accounts.
The order of events is important and is often reversed: Deadlines precede, not after, the attack. For Humanity, the deadline is June 8, 2026 UTC 17:25; for Beldex, the deadline is June 10, 2026 UTC 23:36. Those holding the balance at that moment are eligible for new tokens. According to the rules of both projects, people who buy later are not eligible.
Snapshot, airdrop and forced liquidation: Each of the three terms is explained in one sentence
Snapshot refers to the recording of all balances on the blockchain at a fixed point in time; it determines who is later entitled to something. Airdrop refers to the allocation of tokens to the address in the record without paying consideration, and the ratio here is 1:1. Forced Liquidation , referred to as "liquidation" in Kraken's notice, means that the exchange sells the remaining customer balance after a deadline, at a price that is neither determined by you nor known to the exchange in advance. Deliting refers to the permanent removal of assets from the trading venue, which has already occurred here.
Humanity case: Kraken's explanation of $H and $HUMANITY
According to Kraken's announcement on June 26, 2026, the old $H has been removed from the shelves, the trading and recharge functions are permanently disabled, and withdrawals remain open. The exchange lists new tokens internally using its own symbol,$HUMANITY, to distinguish the two in the account. Airdrop runs automatically on July 1, 2026 at 14:00 UTC, requiring no customer action. The new tokens are also planned to be removed from Kraken and will only support withdrawals.
About the incident itself: According to a report by www.example.com on June 16, 2026, an attacker withdrew approximately 141 million H's from the bridge on Ethereum and minted additional tokens on BNB Smart Chain. Damage estimates differ: crypto.news cited $36 million, while our June 9, 2026 report on the collapse in the price of Humanity Protocol cited $31 million. The project attributed the incident to stolen certificates and made it clear that it was not the contract itself that was defective. The person behind the scenes has not yet been finalized.

Trading and recharge of all four token symbols in Kraken has been closed; only withdrawal functionality remains and is only valid until September 25.

Beldex Case: Kraken's Notes on $BDX and $BELDEX
Kraken's second announcement (as of July 9, 2026) describes the same process, but with different dates. The snapshot date is June 10, 2026 UTC 23:36, and the airdrop of the new $BELDEX will run on July 10, 2026 at 14:00 UTC. Both symbols only support withdrawals. Kraken briefly referred to the trigger as "an incident" and did not provide further details.
The project party itself provided these details. In a blog post dated June 16, 2026, the Beldex team wrote that they discovered unauthorized minting of BDX tokens on BNB Smart Chain on June 12, caused by problems with its own bridging infrastructure. Preliminary assessments suggest that the number of unauthorized tokens created is approximately 38.2 million. The team set the first related transaction date to shortly after 23:36 UTC on June 10, 2026, and the start time of the sale was around 23:10 UTC on June 11. The bridge was suspended in the early morning of June 12. According to the team, the native Beldex blockchain was not affected; the incident was limited to bridging environments.
Zero trading pairs: The results we measured on the Kraken Public Trading API
"Cash Only" does what it says, which can be verified by not requiring an account. On September 5, 2026, we checked Kraken's public transaction API. In the asset catalog, all four symbols $H,$HUMANITY,$BDX and $BELDEX are still listed separately. In the trading pairs catalog (which held 1,446 entries at the time), there was not a trading pair among these four symbols.
This is measurable evidence of the situation: balances are still in the account and can be moved, but there is no market on Kraken to convert them into euros or dollars. In our article on the suspension of trading in 21 Kraken tokens, we described a similar situation where trading was still in progress, but here, trading had long ceased.
If you buy after snapshot: Humanity has a claims process, Beldex does not
This is where the two cases diverge, and for those affected, this is the most important part of the process. On Beldex's side, Kraken made it clear that anyone who received $BDX after the snapshot is not eligible and has no claim portal or other avenue. Those holders have tokens that have been replaced by their own projects, and they will not receive replacements.
Humanity is handled differently. In his announcement, Kraken pointed to a project portal through which affected parties could submit claims themselves, while clearly stating that the exchange was not involved in the process and could not provide assistance. The portal itself lists three target groups: balances sitting in a liquidity pool or contract at the deadline that cannot be allocated to individuals, specific balances from integrations with other agreements, and buyers who purchased after the snapshot but still hold tokens. According to the project party, identity verification is a prerequisite. The portal emphasizes that all other holders do not need to take any action.
This is a statement of intention from the project party, not a claim guaranteeing payment. The amount, timing and decision process of any compensation have not been announced. In addition, there is an unfortunate but necessary practical tip: Open such portals only through links in official exchanges notices, and never access them through direct messages, comments, or addresses in forwarded screenshots.

Old and new tokens carry the same name on the chain. The only way to distinguish them is the contract address.

Why selling in Kraken is not the solution and what are the remaining options
In most cases of removal, the trade fair continues for a period of time, and the most convenient route is to sell through an order book. This route is closed here. Anyone who wants to keep the four symbols must transfer them to their address; anyone who wants to convert them into cash needs another different trading venue that lists the new tokens and still needs to withdraw them first. Both scenarios started with the same operation and ended on September 25.
The existence of a second trading venue and the depth of its order book determine the final return of the sale. For assets of this size, neither can be taken for granted. If you are checking where you can still trade after withdrawing coins, our exchange comparison is a starting point; however, the asset list at trading venues is constantly changing, making it worth re-checking in person before any transfer.
Progressive withdrawal: Where the token should belong before September 25
The procedure is the same in both cases. First, check which four symbols in your Kraken account actually show you have a balance; due to automatic crediting, you may expect only one row, but two rows appear. Next, set up the withdrawal address you control and use the network Kraken provides for the token. Then perform the withdrawal, it is best to test the amount with a small amount first and retain the confirmation information.
If you haven't set up your own hosting service for this step, you must set it up now, and in less time than it seems: your hardware wallet must be ordered, delivered, and set up before you can provide an address. Which devices are worth considering and how they are different are covered in our hardware wallet comparisons. Software wallets can also be used for this purpose, as long as you can safely record recovery mnemons.
Symbols are deceptive: Why new tokens still carry old names on the chain
For both items, Kraken pointed out that new tokens may still be displayed under old names outside the exchange. On blockchain and some platforms, the new Humanity token is still called $H; the symbol $HUMANITY is Kraken's own invention, designed to separate two rows in an account. The same is true for BELDEX and $BDX.
Therefore, the only reliable way to distinguish between old and new tokens is the contract address. For Humanity, the old contract given by Kraken is 0xcf 5104D 094e3864CfCBDa43B82e1cEFD26A016eB , and the new contract is 0xE76c5b78f93909 d34404E9eb4C1f19e 7582a5dE1 ; For Beldex, the old contract is 0x6ad12E761b438 beA3EA09F6 C6266556Bb24C2181 , and the new contract is 0x9d10a1ec41 Fe7878429 BB457 e31 F9b 050D38 c633. Anyone checking their wallet after withdrawing money or buying more tokens somewhere should compare these strings rather than relying on the names displayed.
What does "little or no return" mean in practice in compulsory liquidation
Both Kraken announcements contained the same warning, which was extremely straightforward for exchange documents: Clearing prices could be significantly lower than recently seen reference prices and could in individual cases lead to little or no gains because there was not enough market liquidity at the time of execution. In the same paragraph, Kraken advised users to act before deadlines rather than rely on clearing.
This sentence describes a simple mechanism. When exchanges bring the remaining balance of all virtually untraded tokens to market at one time at the deadline, large supplies encounter weak order books. The result depends on the contingency of the execution moment. That's why the benefits of forced liquidation are not a number you can plan.
Tax Documentation: Why Airdrops and Withdraws Are Your Own File
For tax returns, here are two events that are worth noting and should be recorded separately: the inflow of new tokens via Airdrops in July, and the subsequent withdrawal or sale. For both events, the date, time, quantity and source are recorded, as well as the account statement from the exchange and the transaction ID of the withdrawal. Forced liquidation is also a document event, even if you didn't trigger it yourself.
How to classify these events in individual cases depends on what only you and your tax adviser know. No article can complete this classification for you, and this article will not attempt to do so. What you can do yourself is to save the records while they can still be retrieved from your account, because after they are removed, they will not be available indefinitely.
What was recorded in the case and what remains outstanding
includes dates, symbols, contract addresses and eligibility rules: all appear verbatim in the two Kraken support announcements linked below. Beldex's incident was also recorded, limited to the project party's own description and the existence and purpose of the Humanity Claims Portal, which we opened on September 5, 2026. None of the 1,446 trading pairs is an entry for these four symbols, which is our own measurement that day.
There are three things that remain unresolved. First, the scale of Humanity's losses, cited by different sources, ranged from $31 million to $36 million. Secondly, the scale, timing and process of any compensation made through the portal; we have no publications about it. Third, the question of who is responsible for the attack: There are some attributions circulating that we cannot verify, so for this reason, we will not name them here. In any case, holders do not need these answers to make decisions because deadlines are always in effect.
September 25 Kraken Withdrawal Deadline: Summary of Key Points
Check your account today and don't wait until the deadline.
Check whether you have one or two positions and add the two. If you are browsing your portfolio: which exchanges are suitable for your remaining positions, you can check with our exchange comparisons.
Set the target address before starting withdrawal.
If you don't have your own wallet, there is no goal to transfer, and the delivery time of the equipment is part of the deadline. Options are covered in the hardware wallet comparison, including the question of when software wallets are sufficient.
Withdraw cash and record the process rather than waiting for liquidation.
Kraken himself recommends this, citing potential minimum benefits. Record the dates, amounts, and transaction IDs of airdrops and withdrawals; which tools handle these for you are covered in our comparison of tax tools and portfolio trackers.
