CBRS shares soared more than 12% in Friday trading, To about US$214

Shares of Cerebras Systems (CBRS) surged more than 12% to about US$214 during Friday's trading session, driven by gains in the broader AI semiconductor sector. This strong performance was due to multiple catalysts that boosted investor confidence in the AI chip maker.

The rise marks the stock's third consecutive trading day of gains, and gains have been accumulating since the company announced the establishment of an AI data center with a strategic partner in Mikkeli, Finland, on September 2.

The new facility was built in partnership with Compute Nordic Finland and is expected to have a capacity of 165 MW. This expansion not only strengthens Cerebras 'presence in the European market, but also responds to the growing demand for sovereign AI infrastructure solutions.

In addition, positive sentiment in the AI semiconductor industry also provided additional support for stock prices. Previously, Nvidia announced its acquisition of Hugging Face for approximately US$13 billion, which boosted the industry's popularity. Rosenblatt Securities analyst Kevin Cassidy described the strategic move as Nvidia "continues to use its balance sheet to maintain the health of its AI ecosystem as it expands rapidly."

Good conditions for U.S. Treasury yields on Friday also boosted the bullish environment, as stable or falling yields could improve funding conditions for market participants.

Second-quarter results exceed Wall Street expectations

Supporting the stock price rally, Cerebras 'financial results for the second quarter of 2026 were significantly better than analysts' forecasts. Core income reached US$209.9 million, significantly exceeding the consensus estimate of approximately US$190.6 million and an increase of approximately 74% from the same period last year.

CFO Bob Komin pointed out that results from all major operating benchmarks exceeded expectations. In response, the company's management raised its full-year core revenue guidance for 2026 to a range of US$880 million to US$890 million.

Management also reiterated its ambitious growth outlook, predicting revenue to more than triple by 2027, supported by remaining performance obligations of $25.4 billion on paper.

Mizuho Securities confirmed its buy rating on CBRS shares in late August. ARK Invest has also shown active buying interest in the stock in the past few weeks.

Current market positioning

CBRS is currently trading well above its 52-week low of $160.81, but still well below its 52-week high of $386.34.

Friday's gains were mainly driven by company-specific developments. The Nasdaq index rose only slightly, while the S & P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average both recorded small declines.

The company's CS-4 accelerator, launched in August, is positioned to have throughput up to 30 times higher than GPU-based architectures, allowing Cerebras to maintain a competitive position relative to emerging competitors such as Nvidia and CoreWeave.

On Wall Street, CBRS has a strong buy consensus rating from 10 buy recommendations issued since the company's listing on the Nasdaq in mid-May.

The analyst consensus target price is US$296, indicating potential upside potential is about 40% based on current trading levels.
