FIL plunged more than 99%: from $428 to about $2, and forgotten assets are waiting for key areas to rebound.
Filecoin (FIL) prices fell more than 99%, plummeting from an all-time high of about $428 to around $2 today. Despite fading market attention, prices remain stable in a long-standing liquidity-intensive area. Once prices return to their previous trading range, it could bring a huge percentage increase.
Among many cryptocurrencies, few assets have suffered as severe a decline as Filecoin. The project attracted widespread market attention at a trading price close to $428, but after years of continued selling pressure, its current price has approached the $2 mark. Many traders have turned to other targets and even forgotten about the existence of FIL. However, this lack of attention has created an interesting market landscape.
Forgotten assets stationed in key support areas
Filecoin has experienced a painful downward cycle in the past six years. Falling from about $428 to $2 means asset values have shrunk by more than 99%. Normally, such a huge loss would completely eliminate interest from retail investors and large institutional investors, as is currently the case surrounding the FIL. Relevant discussions have slowed down, media coverage has gradually decreased, and market enthusiasm has basically dissipated. Many market participants no longer view Filecoin as a significant competitor in the digital asset space.
However, when no one is paying attention, charts tend to take on their most fascinating forms. Prices have remained near the same liquidity area for years. This behavior shows that despite the coolness of the entire crypto market, buyers continue to defend the area. Long-term consolidation can sometimes lay the foundation for strong market trends in the future. There are many precedents in market history for certain assets that eventually burst into astonishing rises after years of inactivity.
Such recoveries rarely start when market sentiment is optimistic; they often start when expectations are at historically low levels. For FIL, current conditions reflect this environment. Most speculative enthusiasm has disappeared, selling pressure has cooled, while important support areas remain intact. This combination deserves the focus of traders seeking asymmetric opportunities.
Why can recovery bring huge benefits?
The most surprising part of this market setup is the simple mathematical logic. After a decline of more than 99%, even if prices only partially recover back to previous valuations, they could produce extraordinary percentage returns. If the price returns to the previous trading range, it will be a dramatic change compared with the current price.
Based on the chart, if a full rebound from the current low is launched, the potential increase may be close to 60,000%. At first glance, this number seems unrealistic. However, deep retractions are often accompanied by unusually large recovery potential. This doesn't mean that a 60,000% increase will definitely happen. Markets rarely move in straight lines, and the path to recovery may take years to emerge. Even so, investors still need to understand how extreme collapses affect upside calculations.
When an asset loses almost all of its previous value, the increase in value relative to the most can create an excess percentage return. Even if it is only a small return to its previous market value, holders may still gain substantial gains. Currently, Filecoin is a grossly undervalued asset and ignored by most traders. This lack of attention may persist for some time, but it may be a sign that long-term investors need to pay attention to.
