Early investors in Ethereum transferred US$36.37 million worth of ETH in 2015 after half a year.
An investor who participated in the initial sale of Ethereum in 2015 sent millions of dollars worth of ETH to a cryptocurrency exchange after a six-month silence. According to Lookonchain tracking, the wallet transferred 13,330 ETH pieces to Coinbase, with a value of approximately US$36.37 million based on the price at the time of transfer. At the time, the price of Ethereum was about $2,728.
It is reported that this investor purchased 170,000 ETH units during the initial sales phase of Ethereum at an average price of US$0.31 per unit. At that time, the total cost of the investment was only about $52,700. Today, the total value of these ETHs has soared to approximately $461 million.
During this sell-off, the "giant whale" achieved a profit of approximately US$36.21 million. On-chain analysis also pointed out that the wallet still holds approximately 1,484 ETH, indicating that other tokens previously obtained from the initial sale may have been transferred to other addresses.
Large-scale capital inflows into exchanges are usually closely watched by investors because they may bring short-term selling pressure. However, compared with the daily global trading volume of Ethereum, the size of 13,330 ETH is not enough to dominate the overall market alone.
