Core team clarifies stablecoin integration plan: Key information pioneers should know
Last week, after Pi Network and Open Standard announced a major partnership, its core team finally provided a clear explanation of how stablecoins can integrate into the broader ecosystem. The Pi Network has clearly sent an important signal: it intends to continue to use PI as the main cryptocurrency.
Positioning of PI and stablecoins
In a new update released earlier this week, the team stated that stablecoins can support application scenarios that require high price predictability, including commercial transactions, payments, accounting and settlement. However, the role of stablecoins will be deliberately limited to a narrow range, not as good as the native token PI. PI is expected to remain the primary digital asset throughout the network process.
As we reported earlier this month, Pi Network announced for the first time that it will explore entering the stablecoin market through a new partnership with Open Standard through reward programs and broader OUSD utility. Open Standard (OS) brings together more than 200 participants from the fields of finance, payments, technology and encryption.
Pi explained that stablecoins can bring more economic activity within the ecosystem, thereby reducing users 'dependence on external infrastructure. Still, the team added that they will be cautious in the implementation process and are currently working to develop principles to guide future integrations, emphasizing compliance as an important consideration.
Contrary to some speculation online, the core team did not confirm that OUSD had been integrated into the Pi main network. There are also no details confirmed on the launch date or any Pioneer Rewards program. Pi Network is exploring how stablecoins can provide additional utility support to the Pi ecosystem while maintaining a unique and complementary role with PI.

Review of PI Price Volatility
The overall market adjustments in the past few days have not spared Pi Network's native tokens. The asset had stabilized above $0.09 a week ago, but fell sharply after falling below that support on October 7. Shorts pushed it down to $0.078, a three-month low.
Subsequently, PI rebounded slightly along with most other major cryptocurrency assets and is currently trading above $0.081. Still, its market value has dropped to $915 million, dropping its ranking on CoinMarketCap (CMC) by this indicator to 69th.
