When a large institution takes action, it often has a significant impact on market sentiment. Recently, Grayscale has updated its application for a Dogecoin ETF, attracting widespread attention from investors regarding the future price of DOGE. Analysts believe that the new target price might reach as high as $1.40. This news makes people wonder: Has Dogecoin, which was once considered a “joke coin,” finally made its way into the mainstream financial landscape?

Grayscale recently submitted an S1 registration statement to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), intending to launch the Grayscale Dogecoin Trust ETF. This trust allows investors to own Dogecoin without needing to hold physical coins. If approved, the ETF will be listed on the Arca exchange in New York, with the stock symbol being GDOG. The SEC’s application states that the trust will use Dogecoin as its only asset, with Coinbase Custody Trust Company serving as the custodian. The ETF will issue and redeem a basket of large-cap stocks, with each basket representing 10,000 shares. Initially, these stocks will be traded in cash, rather than through physical Dogecoin transfers.

The value of the Dogecoin ETF will be determined based on the CoinDesk Dogecoin exchange rate. This exchange rate reflects the market price of Dogecoin, and there are no fees or responsibilities associated with this process. The ETF will not engage in active trading, nor will it use leverage or derivatives. Instead, it will operate in a passive manner. The proposal for the Dogecoin ETF follows the guidelines set by the NYSE for listing applications, which were finalized on January 31, 2025. Since the application has not yet been approved, Grayscale stated that they will not proceed with the issuance of shares of the ETF until approval is granted. If the SEC approves the ETF, Grayscale Dogecoin Trust ETF could become a valuable investment option for Dogecoin holders. This could influence institutional investors’ participation in the meme coin market.

The price of Dogecoin shows signs of breaking through a certain pattern
. Trader Tardigrade described on X platform an expanding wedge pattern on the weekly Dogecoin chart, indicating significant upside potential. This pattern consists of consecutive higher highs and higher lows. Past bull markets have reached 120% returns between $0.22 and $0.48, with subsequent gains reaching 190%, reaching the level of $0.77. Analysts predict that if momentum continues along this pattern, the eventual target is $1.4. Historical data also shows that Dogecoin’s price tends to increase during the expansion phase of these wedge patterns. Therefore, this supports a bullish outlook overall. More and more analyses are shaping expectations regarding Dogecoin’s price movements in 2025.

Dogecoin remains in a significant accumulation phase on the daily chart. This phase has lasted since early February, with prices fluctuating between $0.21 and above $0.30. Current price actions indicate that further lows may be formed within this range, suggesting increasing buying sentiment. A stable breakout above $0.25 could lead to a continuation of the trend towards $0.30. Any subsequent bullish movement would likely involve a re-test of the $0.50 level. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) currently stands at 52, indicating further accumulation before a significant upward move.
