His post outlined the fundamentals of this initiative, including BNY’s role as a reserve custodian and the certification provided by Deloitte. RLUSD serves as a 24/7 liquidity platform, enabling tokenized funds like those managed by Blackrock’s BUIDL and Vaneck’s VBILL to be securitized. He also discussed other integrations with institutions such as DBS and Franklin Templeton, the facilitation of repurchase transactions for tokenized money market funds, regulatory recognition in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and the multi-chain expansion of RLUSD to Optimism, Base, Ink, and Unichain through Wormhole’s NTT standards. McDonald concluded:
There’s no doubt that this is a year for stablecoins. I can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store.
Ripple highlighted this milestone, saying, “RLUSD has had an incredible year!” Reece Merrick, Ripple’s Southeast Asia and Africa manager, added, “It’s a great year… We’re well-prepared for another incredible year in 2026.”
Brad Garlinghouse, Ripple’s CEO, mentioned his previous prediction on television. He shared on X, “On Bloomberg TV in March, I predicted that RLUSD would become one of the top five USD-stablecoins by the end of the year (at a time when many people in the industry were still wondering whether the world needed another stablecoin).” His statement emphasized how regulatory alignment, institutional custody, and the integration of tokenized assets will reshape the competition in the stablecoin market as more companies adopt these technologies.
