Just last week, the cryptocurrency industry experienced a surge in financing activities. Before the market plummeted significantly on Friday, crypto companies raised a record amount of $3.5 billion in just one week. This indicates that despite the increasing market volatility, investors remain confident in blockchain and crypto innovations. Funds continue to flow into new projects and growing businesses, highlighting the delicate balance between the industry’s long-term potential and short-term fluctuations.

Last week, cryptocurrency financing reached a record high, with a total of $3.5 billion raised across 28 funding rounds.

Data from Cryptorank showed that the weekly financing volume reached its highest point on Monday, exceeding all previous records, including the $3 billion raised between July 28th and August 3rd. This surge comes after seven consecutive weeks of financing below $100 million, indicating a significant recovery in investor confidence.

Over the past six months, the weekly financing volume varied from $150 million to $2.9 billion, highlighting the volatility of venture capital investments in the cryptocurrency sector. The sudden surge in October represents a major breakthrough.

This record-breaking financing occurred around the time when Bitcoin reached a historical high of $126,000 per unit on October 6th, just before the massive liquidation events on Friday caused the cryptocurrency market to collapse.

Blockchain services dominated the weekly financing rounds

According to Cryptorank data, blockchain-related services dominated the financing activities last week. Out of the 28 rounds of financing recorded from October 6th until Sunday, 12 rounds involved blockchain service providers, making it the most active sector. Centrally managed financial projects accounted for 6 rounds of financing, while the remaining funds went to blockchain infrastructure, decentralized finance, gaming, and social enterprises. This reflects a trend in cryptocurrency investment where services remain highly important despite the wide range of investments available.

Pantera Capital was the most active investor last week, participating in 4 transactions: 2 related to blockchain services, and the other two involving centralized finance and social enterprises.

Over the past year, Coinbase Ventures has remained the most active participant, making 73 investments across various industries. Animoca Brands came in second with 63 transactions, followed by YZi Labs affiliated with Binance, which completed 38 transactions. Amber Group and Andreessen Horowitz’s cryptocurrency accelerator (a16z CSX) each ranked among the top, with 37 transactions each.

There were record amounts of financing between Bitcoin’s peak and its collapse

. A new weekly record for cryptocurrency financing was set on October 6th, as Bitcoin reached a historical high of $126,000.

The new high in Bitcoin was associated with the shift of assets from centralized exchanges to self-hosted platforms, institutional funds, and digital asset wallets. However, the celebrations didn’t last long.

On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that tariffs of 100% would be imposed on China. This led to a sharp drop in the price of Bitcoin, which fell below $110,000 per unit. Bitcoin’s price plummeted by $16,700 within less than 8 hours, resulting in a 13.7% decline in its value. The sudden drop caused nearly $20 billion in liquidations, with the decentralized perpetual exchange Hyperliquid being one of the most affected exchanges during this period.

This crash also led to nearly $20 billion in liquidations, with Hyperliquid being one of the most affected exchanges during this time.
