BTC Four masked men in northern France kidnapped a family of four with arms and forced the victim to transfer 40,000 euros of crypto assets
Four masked robbers illegally detained a family of four for more than three hours at a home in Vendin-le-Vieil, northern France. They violently coerced the father of an IT technician working in the cryptocurrency industry, forcing him to transfer digital assets worth about 40,000 euros.
Case details: Violent coercion and digital asset theft
According to local media reports, the four masked men broke into the family home around 4 a.m. on Sunday and tied the couple and their two children (aged 8 and 12) with black tape. Subsequently, the robbers isolated the father from his family and forced him to hand over the access code and identification information of the cryptocurrency during the beating.
During the torture, the robber even hit his 12-year-old daughter in the face with a car key. In the end, the robbers obtained about 40,000 euros (about 46,000 US dollars) in crypto assets and fled the scene. The family took advantage of the robber's driving away and broke free by themselves, and was assisted by firefighters to get out of trouble at about 7 a.m.
The Béthune Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into illegal detention and extortion into the case. Police said the victim was in a state of extreme shock during the attack and had been examined by a forensic doctor and assistance was provided by the Victims Support Association. Currently, all four suspects are still at large.
French crypto-related violent crimes surge in 2026

法国国家反有组织犯罪检察局指出，此类“扳手攻击”（Wrench Attacks，指以物理暴力胁迫受害者交出数字资产密钥的行为）正逐渐从针对个人的街头袭击转向侵入住宅的犯罪形式。数据显示，2026年上半年，住宅入侵占此类案件的37%，远高于2025年同期的14%。
全球趋势与官方应对措施
区块链分析公司Chainalysis估计，2026年上半年全球针对加密货币持有者的物理袭击导致超过3000万美元的损失。其中，法国有30起公开记录的案件。安全公司CertiK的数据也显示，2026年上半年全球发生52起此类攻击，涉案金额高达1.241亿美元，其中法国占33起。
面对日益猖獗的犯罪势头，法国政府正在加强情报共享、与数字资产公司的合作以及国际协调。内政部长洛朗·努涅兹（Laurent Nuñez）表示，当局已逮捕约200名嫌疑人，并对88名嫌疑人提起起诉，其中包括10名未成年人。随着调查的深入，更多犯罪分子将被绳之以法，但防范此类利用物理暴力获取数字财富的犯罪仍是当前执法部门面临的重大挑战。
