SWEAT is a token of Sweat Economy. Any user who uses the Sweatcoin walking app will receive the token for verified mobile behavior and be stored in a separate app called Sweat Wallet. Technically, the token sits on the NEAR blockchain and bridges multiple EVM chains from there, including Ethereum, Base, BNB Smart Chain, and Arbitrum. On October 1, 2026, the Sweat Foundation announced that Sweat Wallet and SWEAT will end in their current form on December 30, 2026. The reasons given include: the continued downturn in the cryptocurrency market, the loss of exchange listing qualifications, the cost of restoring all user balances after the April 2026 security incident, and the slowdown in new user growth. Until December 30, apps, tokens and contracts will continue to run as is. The next day, October 2, Bitvavo announced the removal of SWEAT. It was an independent decision: according to the foundation, each platform makes its own decision on listing. However, for you, the two clearing processes meet in the same account, and the exchange deadline is nearly three months earlier than the project deadline. This is why October 7th has become the top priority date.

Deadlines for Bitvavo on October 7:1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 pm

Bitvavo closed the market in three steps on the same day, one hour apart. * ** 1:00 pm (CEST)**: Stop receiving SWEAT recharges. * ** 2:00 pm (CEST)**: Stop trading. * ** 3:00 pm (CEST)**: Stop withdrawing cash to personal addresses. This sequence makes practical sense: no new money comes in after 1 p.m., and you still have two hours to process existing positions. Bitvavo explicitly warns against depositing SWEAT after 1 p.m.(CEST) because such recharge may be lost. As a result, anyone who wants to transfer positions from other platforms or wallets to Bitvavo to sell there needs to act in advance: If a transfer on the Ethereum chain is sent at noon on Wednesday, it may arrive too late. This design is not isolated in our reporting. Bitvavo removed Kava, Nano and Ravencoin in mid-September, and at the end of September ICX also forced a conversion ten days after trading closed. The SWEAT process is the same, except for different dates.

Mandatory conversion into euros starting from October 15

The remaining assets in the account will not disappear after October 7. Bitvavo will automatically convert the remaining SWEAT positions into euros by Thursday, October 15, 2026, and credit the proceeds to the account. The exchange lists this date as the deadline and clearly reserves the right to early conversion. Forced conversion, while convenient, strips you of two controls. The first is timing: You don't know the price at which the redemption will take place, and for a token that has dropped by 40% to 42% in the past 24 hours, that's no small matter. The second is the decision whether to sell. Anyone who wants to keep the token (because the foundation points out that contracts on NEAR will continue to exist after December 30) must withdraw it before October 7.

Selling or withdrawing SWEAT: Operation Process before October 7

There are exactly three paths for the balance on Bitvavo, all of which are legal and compliant. 1. Sold before 2pm Central European Daylight Time (CEST) on October 7 and converted into euros. 2. Withdraw cash to an address you control before 3 p.m. CEST on October 7. 3. Do nothing and wait for the automatic conversion. Which path makes more sense depends almost entirely on the size of your position, which can be calculated rather than guesswork. The basic principles are as follows: the withdrawal fee for small positions will devour the income; the minimum order limit for extremely small positions will make it impossible to sell, and conversion is the only option at this time. The oft-ignored fourth path: You can also withdraw SWEAT to another exchange that still lists the token and sell it there. Technically, this is the same as withdrawing cash, except for a different destination address. After October 7, only one trading venue in the euro market will be open to SWEAT.

Kraken becomes SWEAT's only euro trading market

Globally, SWEAT has only two trading pairs for euros: one at Bitvavo and one at Kraken. Once the first disappears at 2 p.m. on October 7, Kraken will become the only remaining euro market. When trading opens at noon on Friday, SWEAT's deposits and withdrawals are also available, and normal quotes are available for euro trading. There are two points that need to be noted in this regard. First, Kraken has not committed to permanently listing SWEAT; the listing decision is up to each platform, and the foundation itself points out that liquidity may decline. Secondly, Kraken also has a minimum amount limit: orders below 15,000 SWEAT will not be accepted by the exchange. That's about five euros at noon on Friday. Anyone wishing to transfer from Bitvavo to Kraken needs to meet two conditions: withdraw cash before 3 p.m. CEST on October 7 and have an account that can receive the token. The order is important because once Bitvavo's transactions are closed, its sales channel will be closed, while the withdrawal channel will remain open for an hour.

Withdrawal fee of 2,900 SWEAT and minimum limit of 3,100 SWEAT: When is it cost-effective to withdraw cash

This is where most holders make miscalculations. Bitvavo charges a fixed fee of 2,900 SWEAT for SWEAT withdrawals, and only allows withdrawals of 3,100 SWEAT and above. Both numbers are denominated in tokens, not euros, and do not change with price. Based on a price of approximately 0.00034 euros at noon on Friday: * The cost is approximately € 0.98. * Anyone withdraws a minimum amount of 3,100 SWEAT, and after deducting fees, they will get a net amount of 200 SWEAT, which is about 7 euro cents. In this case, the fee consumes 94% of the withdrawal amount. The larger the position, the smaller the impact. At 100,000 SWEAT (worth about 34 euros at noon on Friday), 2,900 SWEAT still accounted for 2.9%. At 1,000,000 SWEAT (about 340 euros), the proportion is only 0.29%. Therefore, the feasible threshold is around a few hundred thousand tokens: below this amount, it is costly to withdraw cash into your wallet; above this amount, the fee becomes ordinary transaction costs. On top of all this, the sale faces a second hurdle: For SWEAT, Bitvavo does not accept orders worth less than five euros, which corresponds to less than 15,000 tokens at noon on Friday. People with small positions can neither reasonably withdraw cash nor sell. For this group, the automatic conversion on October 15 is not the worst option, but the only option, which is also a reassuring news: the balance will not be lost, it will fall into the account as a euro amount.

Location of SWEAT: Ethereum network on Bitvavo and NEAR account on Sweat Wallet

A confusion here can be costly. Bitvavo only lists SWEAT on the Ethereum network. As a result, withdrawals will be sent to the Ethereum address rather than the NEAR account in the Sweat Wallet app. If someone enters the app's NEAR account identifier in Bitvavo's withdrawal field, they are sending the amount to a destination that the exchange does not serve. Vice versa: The SWEAT you earn in the app is located on NEAR. If you want to sell it, you must first move it to the chain and exchange that accepts it. The foundation points out that it has placed liquidity in the pool of SWEAT, a decentralized trading platform on NEAR; it's up to you whether to trade and where to trade. Owning your own wallet is a prerequisite. For details of which devices and software solutions exist and what to pay attention to when setting up, see our hardware wallet comparison and analysis. For SWEAT itself, you don't need a dedicated device, but you need a wallet that supports the relevant chain. The private key is the only thing that protects NEAR account access after the app disappears.

Sweat Wallet: Backup private key and NEAR account ID

Anyone using the app faces the second aspect, which has nothing to do with Bitvavo. Each Sweat Wallet account is a NEAR account and the private key controls it. If the key exists only inside the application, access rights will disappear as the application disappears. The foundation lists four steps that each user must perform. 1. Backup the private key and NEAR account identifier; within the app, the path is from the profile to the secure part. 2. Pull SWEAT that has been earned but not yet credited into your wallet. 3. Withdraw the balance from so-called "Grow Jars"(growth cans). 4. Move positions on Ethereum, Base, BNB Smart Chain, or Arbitrum located in-app to your own wallet. An important detail that appeared as a warning in the announcement: Any removal of so-called "magic keys" or login through secret phrases could invalidate the backed up private key. The backup itself does not change the application, the key is still there; after that, you just hold an additional copy. The deadline for all four steps recommended by the foundation is December 18, 2026, less than two weeks before the closure.

Grow Jars and Sweat validators with no fixed term will be discontinued on October 31

The number one news that quickly circulated online was that Sweatcoin was about to close. This is wrong, and the distinction is crucial to millions of users. Sweatcoin (a walking app with internal currency Sweatcoins) is operated by Sweatco Ltd. What is being liquidated are Sweat Wallet and SWEAT tokens, behind which is Sweat Foundation Ltd. According to the foundation, the changes are designed not to affect the Sweatcoin app, the Sweatcoins in it or the promotions within the app; for questions about the app itself, it directs users to the app's own channels. Until December 30, as long as Sweatcoin provides mobile data, you will still receive SWEAT for mobile behavior. As a result, it seems that anyone who only uses the walking app and has never set up Sweat Wallet does not need to take any action. If you hold SWEAT in your wallet, SWEAT in an exchange, or SWEAT in which you invested Grow Jars, you will be affected.

Forced conversions and taxes: Why forced sales are still sales

One missing point in the current report concerns European regulation. According to EU Regulation 2023/1114 (better known as MiCA), SWEAT has an encryption white paper. According to its own instructions, the Foundation has notified the Central Bank of Ireland of a revised white paper on October 1, 2026; it will be released on October 12, 2026 at the same address as before. For you as a holder, this is not an action, but a reading aid. White papers under MiCA must contain information about the rights and risks attached to the token, and the revised version describes where clearing is in the official language of regulatory regulations. Anyone who wants to know what is and is not promised from a regulator's perspective will find more than press releases. The publication falls five days after Bitvavo trading closes, which doesn't change your deadline.

How to identify fraud attempts during liquidation

The situation boils down to three sentences. The hard deadline is October 7, not December 30. It is the size of the position, not the flow of news, that determines the right path. And, if you do nothing, you don't lose money; you just give up control of timing and price. ** Review your position and choose a path. ** Check how much SWEAT is held by which exchange. Below approximately 15,000 tokens, you cannot sell them on Bitvavo; below 3,100, you cannot withdraw them; and then wait for conversion. For large positions, balance sales versus withdrawals, and exchange comparisons will help choose a trading venue. ** Back up your keys before moving any assets. ** Anyone using the app should back up the private key and NEAR account identifier before moving the balance. Please refer to Wallet Comparison for which hosting solution is suitable. ** Save records immediately. ** Download bank statements and transaction overview at the same time as downloading, and record the acquisition date and value while the transaction pair still exists. A tax tool or portfolio tracker can help you avoid year-end searches. The announcements cited in this article can be found at Bitvavo and Sweat Foundation. Another token currently has a similar deadline: Upbit will remove Ravencoin on October 12. (As of October 3, 2026. This article does not constitute investment advice.
