Brian Johnson spends millions of dollars to reverse aging, but he says filters work better

Bryan Johnson's "eternal life" manifesto turns: From extreme longevity to focus on women's health

Bryan Johnson, known as the spokesperson of the "Don't Die" movement, recently released one of the most "mortal" tweets of his career.

He posted on X on Tuesday: "Unfortunately, the best anti-aging treatments are actually filters, retouching and lighting." The remarks came from a biohacker who claims to spend $2 million a year trying to get his body back to the age of 18, which is quite intriguing. In order to pursue eternal life, he did everything possible. Not only did he completely change his living habits, but he even tried strange methods such as penile shock wave therapy.

So, does Johnson plan to abandon hard-core research and embrace the gospel of Botox and cosmetics? That's not entirely true. But this summer has really changed him.

Health challenges and strategic adjustments

On June 30, Johnson announced that he had autoimmune gastritis, a chronic disease in which the immune system attacks the gastric mucosa. He revealed that he had been diagnosed as early as May. A few weeks later, his girlfriend and Blueprint co-founder Kate Tolo was diagnosed with endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and adenomyosis after about six weeks of testing.

On July 21, Johnson claimed to have "cloned" a newborn baby. In response, community comments pointed out that these are actually induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), reprogrammed adult cells, rather than true clones.

Subsequently, Johnson's strategic focus shifted. In a blog post posted on July 24, he wrote that he almost shut down his longevity company last year and reflected on what to build on the eve of superintelligence. His answer is: cure all diseases. He mentioned GitLab co-founder Sid Sijbrandij, who entered "founder mode" after developing cancer and reported no evidence of disease, and Sydney engineer Paul Conyngham, who reportedly shrank his dog's tumors by about 75%.

Project Reshaping and New Directions

Johnson said he will refocus the "Immortals" project launched in February this year and charges $1 million a year and is limited to three places, to develop tools to help individuals discover and solve their own health problems. He and Tolo became the first users.

The original service menu remains unchanged, including nutrition management, GLP-1 drugs, hormone, peptide and biomarker testing. The new content covers stem cells, organoids and personalized therapy development.

Last month, Johnson posted that he was back at 18 in "many ways." He listed sleep, fertility, resting heart rate, vascular health and inflammation levels as the same items as teenagers. But he also admitted that hearing and somatic mutations are exceptions. In addition, he accepted that his appearance matched the age of 49, which explains why certain cosmetic methods may achieve a more visual rejuvenation effect than multimillion-dollar medical research.

Focus on women's health and long-term vision

Johnson's focus/obsession has also shifted to women's health. In an interview with the Australia Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Tolo pointed out that women's health has always been the "next step" in his plan and that she is committed to becoming "the most comprehensively data-monitored woman in the world." The protocol collected 14 million data points from her menstrual cycle.

Johnson told the same media that he is still committed to achieving the goal of eternal life by 2039, but this is no longer his only goal in life. There are still 13 years left before this deadline, when he will be an "immortal" in his 60s. While this may not be the image one wants to maintain forever, it is not a problem that cannot be solved without concealer.
