Binance users increased their holdings in Bitcoin in October, and positions in Ethereum, USDT and BNB fell.

As one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, Binance reported in its latest release of reserve certificates snapshot that its users increased their holdings in Bitcoin in October. However, during the same period, balances of Ethereum, USDT and BNB all fell, indicating that asset allocation trends for the exchange's customers are changing.

Increase in Bitcoin holdings amid the overall market rise

As of October 1, the total number of bitcoins held by Binance users was approximately 688,573, an increase of 6,217 compared with 682,356 on September 1, an increase of 0.91%. This snapshot reflects a significant increase in user holdings in Bitcoin during the period when the price fluctuated between US$85,000 and US$87,000.

Binance Research reported that the total market value of the crypto market increased by 11% in September to US$2.99 trillion. During the same period, total inflows of cash Bitcoin ETFs reached US$3.49 billion, indicating increased investor demand for bitcoin-related products.

Although data shows that Binance users tend to hold more Bitcoin on the platform, the reserve certificate snapshot does not provide detailed information on the specific reasons for individual users 'actions. The increase in Bitcoin holdings is consistent with the growth in the total market value of the crypto market and strong ETF inflows, indicating that the market environment is conducive to Binance users accumulating Bitcoin.

Ethereum, USDT and BNB positions decline

While the bitcoin balance rose, users 'Ethereum holdings fell during the snapshot period. On October 1, Binance reported that the number of Ethereum held by users was approximately 3.799 million, a decrease of 183,602 million compared with the total of 3.983 million in September, or a decrease of approximately 4.61%. In terms of percentages, this decline is more pronounced than the increase in Bitcoin holdings.

In addition, the USDT balance fell by approximately 0.87% to 32.03 billion units. BNB's user positions also fell 0.77%, falling to approximately 43.04 million as of October 1. These changes indicate that Binance user portfolio adjustments are asset-specific rather than showing a uniform trend in all major currencies.

Assets Open Positions on September 1 October 1 Open Positions Change amount Change amplitude (%) BTC 682,356 688,573 +6,217 +0.91% ETH 3,983,000 3,799,398 -183,602 -4.61% USDT 32.31 Billion 32.03 billion -280 million -0.87% BNB 43.37 million 43.04 million -330,000 -0.77%

These data highlight the diversification adjustments that users have made in different cryptocurrencies during the most recent reporting period.

Analysis of USDT Dynamics and Proof of Reserves Process

USDT, as a key stablecoin in the global crypto market, is often used to provide trading liquidity between exchanges. The snapshot shows a decline in Binance users 'USDT positions, which may be due to changes in user withdrawals, conversions to other assets, or trading activities. However, snapshots alone cannot shed light on these motivations or indicate the direction of broader capital flows in the crypto market.

Binance's proof of reserves mechanism allows users to use a combination of the Merkle Tree data structure and zk-SNARK zero-knowledge proof cryptography to confirm that their balance is included in reported liabilities.

Miniature Dictionary: zk-SNARK stands for "Zero-Knowledge Successive Non-Interactive Argument of Knowledge" and is a cryptographic method that allows one party to prove to another that a statement is true without revealing any details about the statement.

Binance claims that its reserves support user assets in a 1:1 ratio, and the data reflects user balances at discrete monthly intervals rather than real-time positions.

Focus on transparency as asset composition changes

Snapshot of proof of reserves is crucial to maintaining user trust and transparency in assets held by Binance. The latest data shows a trend of users leaning towards holding more Bitcoin, while Ethereum, USDT and BNB have declined. This asset rotation phenomenon highlights the adjustment of user positions as market conditions evolve.
