Revolut's preferred U.S. main board if it goes public, its valuation climbs to US$115 billion.
Revolut's co-founder and CEO Nik Storonsky said on Thursday that if the company eventually goes public, it would prefer an initial public offering (IPO) in the United States. The company hopes to "dominate" the U.S. market and plans to launch more financial products, including credit cards and loans, after it obtains a full U.S. banking license.
This statement further clarified Revolut's IPO strategy. Previously, the company had considered dual listings in New York and London. Coinpaper previously reported that management hinted that Revolut's first public appearance will be at least a year away.
Secondary market transactions drive valuations up sharply
The latest discussion of IPOs follows another major jump in Revolut's private market valuations. A secondary sale of shares launched in July this year valued the company at US$115 billion, higher than the US$75 billion valuation attached to previous transactions. The price per share is $2,017 and is mainly to provide liquidity to existing shareholders rather than raise new capital for Revolut.
This valuation makes Revolut the most valuable private equity fintech company in Europe, and its status even exceeds the market value of many mature European banks.
Investor interest has also surpassed traditional financial backers. Coinpaper reported that Nvidia's venture capital arm was associated with holding approximately $196 million in Revolut shares earlier this year.
Profit growth supports high valuations
Revolut's rising valuation is supported by rapidly improving financial results. The company reported revenue to reach US$6 billion in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 46%; pre-tax profit increased 57% to US$2.3 billion. Customer deposit balances increased 66% to US$67.5 billion, and the number of retail customers reached 68.3 million at the end of the year. Currently, the company says there are more than 80 million platform users worldwide.
This profitability distinguishes Revolut from many financial technology companies that have achieved high valuations before establishing sustainable profitability.
Moving into U.S. banking makes New York a more reasonable choice
The U.S. is becoming increasingly important to Revolut's strategy. The company applied for a National Bank license in March and has received preliminary approval. Obtaining a full license will allow Revolut to deepen its lending business and expand products such as credit cards and loans, thereby reducing its reliance on cooperative banks.
Revolut has obtained a full banking licence in the UK in 2026, another milestone in its expansion.
