Tangem与传统硬件钱包的区别

How Tangem reduces firmware supply chain risks
One of the most eye-catching elements of Tangem's security architecture is the immutable card firmware it uses . Firmware installed during production cannot be replaced or updated after product manufacturing is complete.
This design eliminates the attack surface unique to devices that rely on downloadable firmware updates. If the device does not have a post-production firmware update mechanism, attackers cannot later use the mechanism to distribute malicious firmware to existing cards.
The Tangem application also performs cryptographic authenticity checks when communicating with the card. This helps verify that the wallet is authentic and ensures that real firmware is running before use.
This architecture is important when discussing supply chain security. For example, in December 2023, malicious code was released via Ledger Connect Kit, a JavaScript library used by third-party decentralized applications. Although Ledger clarified that the incident did not compromise the integrity of its hardware or Ledger Live, it demonstrated how software dependencies and distribution channels can become tempting targets.
