DOT Market cap of US$2 billion, average daily chain revenue of only US$23: Polkadot's valuation gap attracts attention
Polkadot (DOT), which has a market cap of US$2 billion, is facing new scrutiny as one of the most significant valuation differences in the crypto market. Over the past 30 days, the network's Relay Chain has processed approximately 1,400 transactions per day, generating approximately $23 in daily chain revenue, according to data from the Chain app. On an annualized basis, its agreement fee operating rate is approximately US$8,400.
By comparison, DOT's current market value of approximately $2 billion means its implicit valuation multiple is as high as 240,000 times revenue. For reference, even highly valued technology companies rarely have price-to-sales ratios of 50 to 100 times.
Polkadot peaked on November 4, 2021, recording an all-time high of US$54.87. At the time, the network had a market value of approximately $52 billion. From historical highs to date, prices have fallen by approximately 97.8%. However, despite such a huge meltdown, the network's market capitalisation remains in the multi-billion dollar range, making current valuation multiples more difficult to explain from a fundamental perspective alone.
Why can't the on-chain fee reflect the whole picture?

另外，Polkadot于2026年3月14日执行了一项重大的经济重置，将无限的代币发行转变为21亿枚DOT的硬性供应上限，并将年度排放量削减了53.6%。支持者认为，这一转变使DOT成为一种稀缺资产，其价值独立于近期的费用生成能力之外。
尽管如此，这些数字不容忽视。无论存在何种结构性理由，一个每年产生不到1万美元费用的协议却拥有20亿美元的市值，这引发了关于其价值真正锚点何在的合理质疑，以及市场是否在定价一个尚未到来的未来。
