FollowingMoonPay officially launches its Korean business, using Seoul as the Asia-Pacific hub to promote the development of Korean won stablecoins
MoonPay has officially launched MoonPay Korea and established Seoul as its main operating center in the Asia-Pacific region. This move marks an important step for the global cryptocurrency payment service provider, and also highlights South Korea's core position in the formulation of new regulations and the development of the industry linked to the Korean won.
Strategic cooperation with Woori Bank and KRW stablecoin Alliance
The launch of MoonPay Korea coincides with a critical period as South Korea continues to promote the introduction of regulated stablecoin, as commercial banks are actively competing for share of distribution networks outside traditional channels. MoonPay Korea participates in an initiative called the KRW Stablecoin Consortium and has signed a memorandum of understanding with Woori Bank, one of South Korea's largest commercial banks, to jointly promote development in this field.
According to an official announcement, MoonPay Korea plans to provide cross-border settlement, distribution, wallet access and redemption services for South Korea's emerging won pegged stablecoin market. Currently, the company is promoting cooperation with technology companies such as KB Financial Group, KakaoBank and fintech startup Finger, who will support the operation of pilot service models before MoonPay's global payment network is fully rolled out.
