ETH Ethereum price fell below US$2,555, long liquidation hit a half-year high
Affected by increased selling pressure in the cryptocurrency market, Ethereum (ETH) price fell 5.67% to US$2,555. Liquidation of medium-and long-term positions in the ETH market has reached its highest level since June, raising concerns among investors. Analysts pointed out that Ethereum is testing key 100-week exponential moving average (EMA) support; if that support falls, the price could fall further back to $2,100.
Ethereum market suffers US$200 million in liquidation
The sharp decline in Ethereum price has had a negative impact on investors using leveraged trading. According to CoinGlass, the amount of liquidation of ETH positions on October 7 was approximately $201 million. The figure marks the highest single-day liquidation of long-term positions since June 5. During the same period, as Bitcoin prices fell below $84,000, the total clearing amount in the entire cryptocurrency market reached $665 million. Among them, the US$26 million ETH/USDC transaction that occurred on Binanping Platform became the single largest liquidation case.
Analysts: Key moving average support faces test
Cryptocurrency analyst Ted Pillows said it is testing the support of the 100-week EMA after the Ethereum price fell below $2,600. According to his analysis, if ETH closes below this moving average, it may trigger a deeper price correction. Another analyst, Daan Crypto, pointed out that with the recent 5% decline, Ethereum has fallen below the volatility range of the past two to three weeks. Daan said unless there is a strong rebound, short-term technical aspects are likely to remain weak.
