Ethereum tests key support areas, continued selling of spot ETF puts pressure on the market
As the continued selling of spot ETF products puts pressure on the market, Ethereum is testing a critical support area. The combination of technical pressure and continued capital outflows has caused traders to pay close attention to whether the market shows signs of stabilizing or breaking, which will determine the direction of ETH in the future.
Prices hit key technical support
According to price data tracked by CoinGecko, ETH has retreated to a technically critical area that has previously served as bottom support many times. Whether assets can hold this level at the daily close will be a key issue in determining the short-term trend.
Support levels are important because they represent areas historically where buyers entered with sufficient confidence to absorb selling pressure. If effective adherence can be achieved here, the market structure of broad will remain intact; if there is a decisive break, it will open the door to the next demand area below, and there will be a lack of technical floor to slow down the decline in the short term.
If ETH can rebound from that position, traders will view the previous resistance above as the first meaningful obstacle. This "resistance-to-target" position marks the dividing line between a simple rebound and a real trend reversal. Neither of these two results is inevitable and cannot be determined based on technical aspects alone.
This test of support followed the pattern of Ethereum's recent 10% decline: assets faced similar selling conditions at the time, and institutions subsequently used the pullback as a buying opportunity. Whether this dynamic will repeat itself will largely depend on the performance of ETF fund flows in the next few trading days.
ETF sell-off exacerbates market sentiment pressure
The downward pressure was further amplified through the continued sell-off of spot Ethereum ETF products. Outflows of funds from ETFs affect market sentiment because they indicate that institutional or individual holders are reducing exposure through the most convenient channels, which often drives a simultaneous decline in spot demand.
Continued net outflows do not mean that a bottom is unlikely, but it means that ETH's natural buyer base is shrinking in the short term. Thinning liquidity makes support levels easier to break through. The broader wave of ETF selling affecting Bitcoin and Ethereum products has been a more consistent indicator in recent weeks.
Capital flow is just one of many factors. Macro risk appetite, on-chain activity and derivative positions will all affect the trading price of ETH. But when the flow of funds remains negative, it creates an emotional drag that forces technical support to bear the pressure alone, increasing the importance of the current test.
It is worth noting that Ethereum has recently issued a bearish signal on the technical side, and the MACD indicator has confirmed negative momentum. Coupled with this technical background, the selling boom of ETFs makes the current support level test particularly critical.
Factors that determine the next trend of Ethereum
The future path depends on two competing scenarios:
Bullish scenario: ETH holds current support, ETF outflows slow or reverse, and buyers absorb surplus supply. This sequence will restore market confidence and lay the foundation for a shock to upper resistance levels.
Bear scenario: Support fell against the background of continued outflows. A daily close below this zone will give momentum to sellers and shift attention to lower demand areas, and there is no catalyst to force a reversal in the short term. The surge in trading activity during the previous decline in ETH suggests that once key defenses are lost, trading volumes can quickly increase.
The crypto market is inherently volatile, and both outcomes are still possible. The key to changing the situation lies in the direction of the flow of ETF funds. If outflows continue at the current rate, it will become increasingly difficult to hold support levels; if the flow of funds stabilizes or turns positive, there will be room for technical development in a direction that is favorable to ETH.
The question for traders is: Is this a wash before the next rise, or is it the beginning of a deeper correction? The answer will emerge at the close of the next few daily lines.
