U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF experienced significant outflows, market sentiment turned cautious
This month, U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded significant outflows, marking a significant shift in sentiment among cryptocurrency investors. Decrypt's ETF tracking data showed that the funds suffered consecutive redemptions, including a single-day outflow of $484.9 million on Wednesday, the largest single-day withdrawal since June.
Bitcoin ETF reversed in October
Despite a brief rebound in inflows of $21.1 million on Friday, the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF still recorded a net outflow of $386.3 million at the end of the first seven trading days in October. Gains from this modest failed to make up for a massive divestment earlier this week, especially after a sharp exit on Wednesday, which resulted in a loss of $244.1 million on Thursday.
Bitcoin ETF provides investors with a way to participate in the digital asset market without having to directly hold cryptocurrency or manage private key wallets. These products track the price of Bitcoin and trade on regular brokerage platforms, attracting the attention of institutional and retail investors since their launch.
There was a positive trend in early October, attracting inflows totaling US$292.6 million in the first two trading days. On October 6th, another $118.8 million poured in. However, the subsequent decline masked early inflows and erased all gains prior to the month.
ETF fund flow reflects changes in investor sentiment
The Solana ETF also faced negative capital flows this month, but is much smaller than Bitcoin and Ethereum. The Solana ETF posted an outflow of $3.8 million on Friday, marking the fifth consecutive day of net redemptions. The fund's only inflow in October occurred on October 2, at $1.3 million. Overall, the Solana ETF has lost $24.8 million this month, while cumulative net inflows since launch are $137.9 million.
Solana, a blockchain network known for its fast trading speeds and low fees, continues to attract investors 'attention through ETF products, but recent fund flow data suggests that holders have become more cautious.
Despite recent negative momentum, Bitcoin ETF remains the fund with the largest net inflow, with cumulative net inflows of US$57.6 billion since its launch and currently manages US$100.6 billion in assets.
