October will become the “ETF Month”: 16 cryptocurrency funds await the final decision from the SEC

● 10月下旬‌:The rulings regarding Litecoin and Dogecoin ETFs involve a thorough review of their community popularity and risk management measures. The decisions may be made at any time before the final deadline. Analysts at Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange predicted in August that the new altcoin season could see a rebound, possibly due to the approval of cryptocurrency ETFs, which provide investors with a low-risk way to access these tokens. ETF analysts, including Nate Geraci, president of NovaDius Wealth Management, stated in a tweet on Monday that since all applications are approaching the deadline, this will be “a critical period for spot cryptocurrency ETFs.” Starting this week, the Canary Spot Litecoin ETF is facing a deadline. Decisions will also be made regarding SOL, DOGE, XRP, ADA, and HBAR ETFs, although the SEC can approve any or all of them at any time. Meanwhile, cryptocurrency trader Daan Crypto Trades calls October “the month of ETFs,” but notes that two major players, Fidelity and BlackRock, are not among the candidates. These ETFs do not originate from Fidelity or BlackRock, both of which are key players in the cryptocurrency ETF market. Nevertheless, this could be something worth keeping an eye on in the coming weeks, says Daan Crypto Trades. In June, Seyffart estimated that the SEC would approve various cryptocurrency ETFs with a final deadline in October, with a probability of 90% or higher. The SEC is making the process of approving ETFs easier in the future. The SEC delayed its decision on several cryptocurrency ETFs until 2025, setting several new deadlines. However, the regulatory body has also taken steps to shorten the timeline, showing a more favorable attitude towards cryptocurrencies.

On September 17th, the SEC approved new listing criteria for commodity-based trust stocks, which could potentially shorten the path to the launch of physical cryptocurrency ETFs in the future.

Seyffart said that this policy change would be a positive step toward the introduction of physical cryptocurrency ETPs.

Eric Balchunas, another ETF analyst, speculated that more ETFs might be introduced soon. He pointed out that there are 22 types of tokens on Coinbase that “qualify for physical ETFs.”

Since the changes in listing criteria were implemented, asset management company Hashdex has expanded its cryptocurrency ETFs, incorporating XRP, Solana, and Stellar (XLM) into its portfolio.
