Against the backdrop of the resurgence in interest in NFTs and the parallel development of multi-chain ecosystems, a sports gaming platform has introduced cross-chain wallet integration features. Fans can now easily verify their NFT assets across different blockchains and instantly access exclusive game benefits. As the activity around NFTs on chains like Ethereum and Solana increases, this “asset-based access” model is helping to break down barriers between chains, allowing NFTs to move from mere collectibles to practical applications in real-world scenarios.

Frequently Asked Questions

● What are the functions of SCOR’s new features?

These features enable fans to connect their wallets across multiple blockchains, allowing them to activate dormant sports NFTs within the SCOR ecosystem.

● What is the importance of cross-chain integration for collectors?

It transforms previously idle NFTs into usable in-game rewards, without the need to move or transfer the original assets.

● How does SCOR verify cross-chain ownership?

Users connect their external wallets, and SCOR securely updates the SCOR-ID metadata to reflect the verified ownership status.

● What benefits do linked NFTs offer?

Verified assets provide enhanced gameplay experiences, such as bonus items and exclusive rewards, thereby increasing revenue potential.

Saving “digital dust” from isolated collections

SCOR, a protocol dedicated to programmable sports IPs, has introduced a new feature designed to revitalize thousands of dormant sports non-fungible tokens. This feature, known as SCOR-ID cross-chain wallet linking, allows fans to verify ownership of their collections on different blockchains and instantly unlock benefits within the SCOR ecosystem.

In a statement, SCOR explained that this new system addresses the issue of fragmented ownership by enabling users to encrypt connections between external wallets and their SCOR-ID. This turns previously idle collections into meaningful game enhancements, without the need for any asset transfers.

The cross-chain linking system updates a user’s SCOR-ID metadata by connecting their Base wallet to external wallets holding sports NFTs. Through a secure verification process, Sweet’s backend verifies the encryption signature and automatically adds new features to SCOR-ID tokens, integrating cross-chain ownership into a unified digital identity. Once verified, users can access their entire collection on the platform, unlocking game rewards and multipliers, without the need to transfer assets or pay transfer fees.

"We see millions of dollars and thousands of fans trapped in collections that have lost their value and lack any practical functionality," said Tom Mizzone, CEO of Sweet. "Our SCOR Foundation’s Lab is transforming isolated collections into unified game identities, without forcing holders to transfer their assets. By securely linking their wallet history to their SCOR-ID, we can accurately gauge their passion for sports and reward them with tangible game upgrades."

This method allows SCOR to recognize traditional assets—such as those belonging to the Los Angeles Lakers or Cristiano Ronaldo’s collection—without the need to move or copy the original NFTs. The assets are securely stored in users’ wallets, while SCOR processes and indexes ownership data, providing benefits within the game, such as gem multipliers and exclusive rewards. These gems can later be exchanged for SCOR tokens.

SCOR already has over 2,000 athletes from around the world, including cricket player Ben Stokes and Chris Gayle, golf legend Arnold Palmer, as well as stars from various other disciplines.

One of the key design principles of this system is to maintain the ownership of the original collections. SCOR does not create derivatives or copy artworks; instead, it verifies ownership and updates the SCOR-ID metadata accordingly.

“It’s all about functionality and identity,” said Raymond Lew, vice president of product management at Sweet. “The collections associated with players like CR7 or the Lakers are valuable collectibles, but for many people, the actual ownership doesn’t match the hype. By linking these wallets to their SCOR IDs, we transform passive fans into active participants, ultimately giving them a real return on their investment.”
