“In our entire ecosystem, what we focus on most is our artificial intelligence computing fund. We’re deeply integrated into the TAO ecosystem,” said Miglino.
A deeper understanding of Bittensor subnets
Grayscale describes Bittensor subnets as “Y Combinator for decentralized AI networks”. Each subnet operates like a startup, developing specialized products or services.
CoinGecko currently lists over 100 Bittensor subnets, with a total market value of over $850 million. Taostats, which provides a more comprehensive overview of the ecosystem, shows that there are 129 subnets, with a total market value of nearly $3 billion.

According to Grayscale Research, the valuation of these subnets has increased significantly since their launch. The largest subnets include Chutes, which provides serverless computing for artificial intelligence models, and Ridges, a subnet focused on developing artificial intelligence agents through crowdsourcing.
This expansion highlights the growing demand for decentralized artificial intelligence infrastructure, as developers are constantly working to build and expand new artificial intelligence products and applications.
As Miglino told Cointelegraph, decentralized artificial intelligence could become one of the most important applications of blockchain technology since Bitcoin, primarily driven by this demand.
The Bittensor subnet has also attracted investment from venture capital firms. Inference Labs recently completed a round of financing worth $6.3 million, which will be used to support Subnet 2—a platform for reasoning verification within the Bittensor ecosystem.
Meanwhile, xTao, an infrastructure developer specializing in building tools and services for the Bittensor ecosystem, went public on the Toronto Stock Exchange’s Growth Market in July. It became a new listed company.
