FollowingGoogle launches the "Googlebook" series of high-end notebooks, and Nigeria is not among the initial market
Google recently launched a new high-end notebook computer category-"Googlebook." This series of products is centered on the Gemini AI tool and has achieved deep integration with Android phones. However, Nigeria was not included in the first seven markets to be listed.
These new notebooks start at $899 and are made by brands such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo. Google announced that the device will be available in the United States on October 4 and in Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany and Australia on October 5. Currently, Nigeria does not appear on the initial available list, and Google has not announced a release date for the Nigeria market.
For Nigeria consumers who want to own the device before its official release, purchasing it through an importer or entrusting it to bring it into the country is an obvious alternative, but this will lead to a final cost higher than the official price announced by Google.

Based on current exchange rates, the cheapest Googlebook model, Acer, sells for US$899, equivalent to approximately 1.19 million naira (calculated at an exchange rate of US$1,324.36 naira to US$1).

定位高于Chromebook的高端层级
“Googlebook”标志着谷歌从专注于预算型Chromebook市场向高端笔记本电脑领域的战略转变。谷歌表示，新设备结合了安卓技术基础与ChromeOS的桌面端基础，并以Gemini AI及安卓手机集成能力为主要设计亮点。此外，这些笔记本电脑的视频播放续航时间长达14小时，全系标配至少16GB内存，并提供长达10年的软件更新支持。
谷歌并未放弃Chromebook市场。新的“Googlebook”品类旨在为公司提供更高阶的产品线，而Chromebook将继续服务于教育市场和预算型计算需求。
这一举措意义重大，因为Chromebook在全球学校中已占据重要地位。谷歌称，约有5,000万名学生和教师使用Chromebook。据报告，谷歌将“Googlebook”视为其更广泛努力的一部分，旨在将其基于Gemini的计算体验推广至这一现有市场。
目前，对“Googlebook”感兴趣的尼日利亚买家只能依赖进口渠道，或等待谷歌宣布在该国的未来 rollout 计划。在此之前，海外宣传的899美元起售价在扣除将笔记本运入尼日利亚的额外成本前，仅相当于约119万奈拉。
