Peter Brandt released a long comment: Analyzing the trend of XRP and four other major assets

Well-known trader Peter Brandt recently shared a long analysis of XRP and four other major assets on social media platform X. He elaborated on his insistence on the concept of "measured moves", emphasizing that target prices are not sacrosanct. Charts often fail to fully achieve the original expectations and may evolve into other forms, which is the basis of his technical analysis.

Brandt said he only focuses on price movements and "doesn't care" about the fundamentals of XRP or any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin (BTC). For XRP holders, his analysis is not offensive, but based on pure trading logic: "I only trade price, and price is the only factor that matters to me."

XRP faces heavy selling pressure above

On the weekly chart, XRP is trading at $1.51. Brandt pointed out that the asset chart shows a "Cup and Handle". However, over a larger period of time, the same cup handle shape may be forming the right shoulder in the "head and shoulder top" shape. This is the risk that Brant warns of chart pattern changes: one pattern is identified and then changes to another.

A measured motion forecast based on an inverted head and shoulders pattern points to $2.16, which is calculated by adding the height of the pattern to the daily close. The current shape of the right shoulder is poorly developed and short, which suggests that the right shoulder may develop further, but is not necessary.

The more serious problem lies in the supply pressure above. Brandt pointed out that XRP needs to absorb "a large amount of supply from above", which is a direct negative factor. Weekly charts confirm this, with the current price of $1.51 well below the 2025 high of $3.65.

SOL's cup handle shapes are in different levels

Solana (SOL) is trading at US$121.06 on the weekly chart. Brandt described the "handle shape displayed as being at a different level from XRP." The chart shows a large, multi-year cup-shaped structure with a neckline near $260 that spans the 2021 peak and the 2024-2025 rally. Prices are currently recovering from lows close to $75 and congestion levels at key resistance levels are lower than XRP.

ETH and XLM face less overhead supply

Brant noted that Ethereum (ETH) has "huge congestion" but does not have the XRP type of heavy overhead supply. Although other analysts predict that XRP will overtake ETH in some respects, ETH is structurally superior to XRP in this indicator alone.

Brandt also pointed out that the Ripple Chain (XLM) also carries similar topside supply to XRP, but on a smaller scale. This is all he has to compare between the two. Previously, he had called XLM an unpopular target worthy of attention.

XMR is Brandt's first choice.

Monero coin (XMR) is traded at $560.88. Brandt made it clear that this is his most promising asset at the moment. Weekly charts show that a long-term uptrend resistance line since its 2021 high has been breached by XMR in 2026, and prices have continued to rise since then. All supply above has been absorbed.

Brant said the prospects were "smooth." He said he didn't understand the fundamental narrative behind XMR, but he didn't think it mattered.

What are the key factors that distinguish these five assets?

Brant's preference boils down to one thing: XMR has absorbed the supply pressure above it;SOL has overcome this obstacle well;ETH, although congested, avoids problems unique to XRP;XLM shares the burden of XRP on a smaller scale; and XRP bears the largest supply pressure above in this comparison.
