Upbit's launch of KAIA tokens triggered violent one-day fluctuations

On October 9, 2026, KaiaChain's $KAIAtoken recorded the most violent one-day price fluctuation in months. The market was mainly triggered by South Korea's leading crypto exchange @Official_Upbit announced that it would launch multiple pairs of trading pairs for the asset.

Buyers responded quickly, and prices rose accordingly.

According to an official announcement, Upbit officially opened the trading of KAIA tokens in the KRW, BTC and USDT markets at 18:30 Korean Standard Time (KST) on October 9. However, buying had poured in in before the market opened. As South Korea's largest exchange, investors actively bought before trading started as soon as the news of Upbit's launch was announced.

Driven by this good, KAIA tokens rose by a maximum of 84% during intraday trading on Friday, October 9. Although different data providers reported slightly different increases due to differences in statistical windows, the upward trend is clear. The market pushed trading volume to more than 28 times its 30-day average, showing a significant increase in liquidity and retail interest.

As of 11:30 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the token was trading at approximately $0.0615, a 24-hour increase of 58.5%, and the market value reached US$396.1 million. In previous transactions, the token price had exceeded the $0.06 mark and then fell back.

Background Analysis and Risk Warning

The launch allows South Korean retail traders to trade $KAIA directly through the country's deepest Korean won order book. It is worth noting that the token is in a nearly two-month recovery period after experiencing an August low. Currently,$KAIA has been listed on many mainstream platforms such as Binance, Bithumb, Coinone, Bybit, OKX, Gate.io, KuCoin, MEXC and Bitget. Therefore, Upbit's addition mainly represents a significant expansion of its coverage in the Korean retail market, rather than its first landing on a major trading platform.

However, technical signals remind investors to be cautious. After prices surged, KAIA's 14-day Relative Strength Index (RSI) reached 82.84. Normally, an RSI above 70 means that the asset is overbought, implying a possible subsequent correction or consolidation phase.

In addition, the current price of the token is still 86.49% lower than its historical high. This fact reminds us that even a strong rebound driven by launch news can occur in a long-term downward trend.
