Two well-known figures in the cryptocurrency world renounces Robinhood Chain
In the cryptocurrency world, two well-known figures have refuted recent comments about the failure of Robinhood Chain. They believe that the decline in network fee revenue is not a signal of weakening demand, but a result of deliberate reductions in transaction costs.
Why the revenue curve fell
Robin Hood increased the Gas limit on his network and reduced the fees paid by users, causing a sharp drop in revenue on the chain. However, daily decentralized finance (DeFi) trading volumes remain strong. Haseeb Qureshi, managing partner of Dragonfly, confirmed this, who shared a chart on Platform X that showed that while revenue on the chain fell, trading volume on the decentralized exchange (DEX) remained strong. He said the network was "firmly ranked second behind Solana." Qureshi pointed out that many observers interpret the decline in the income line as evidence of error.
Uniswap founder Hayden Adams expressed similar views. "It's interesting to watch people declare the chain dead because of the cost chart, when in fact they're just expanding production capacity to meet the huge demand for block space," he wrote in response to Qureshi's post. He said DEX trading volume performed well, with 95% of transactions conducted through Uniswap.
According to DefiLlama, in the past 24 hours, Robinhood Chain recorded $403,000 in chain revenue and approximately $448,600 in fees. In comparison, DEX transaction volume reached US$1.81 billion during the same time period. Trading volume exceeded US$12.77 billion in seven days, with a weekly increase of nearly 23%.
Doubts about low profit margins
However, not everyone is as optimistic as Qureshi and Adams. One of the leading voices in this camp is Solana Labs co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko. In response to Qureshi's post, he wrote: "My sharp view is that a good Layer 2 should be a cheap Layer 2, making it a low-margin business for fintech companies that can charge 50 basis points for the front end."
His argument is that reducing on-chain fees gives advantage to competing front-end platforms such as Fomo and Phantom, which, in his words, is basically "giving away their brand."
What does on-chain data reveal?
The network has grown rapidly since its launch on July 1. The total locked value (TVL) has exceeded US$937 million, approaching the US$1 billion mark. The market value of stablecoins on the chain has exceeded US$1 billion, with a month-on-week increase of approximately 12%, and a 72% increase in the past month. USDG accounts for more than 68% of stablecoin circulation, followed by Ethena's USDe.
Uniswap's interest in Arbitrum
