ZEC Cryptocurrency market rebound driven by key currency and regulatory events
On September 4, 2026, the cryptocurrency market experienced a significant rise, resulting in the liquidation of more than 105,000 traders, with a total liquidation amount reaching US$566.9 million. Among them, the liquidation amount of short positions was approximately US$478.91 million. The overall market size, including derivatives, has expanded to approximately US$2.82 trillion.
Factors driving the market surge
Macroeconomic factors played a key role in this transition. A key statement from Federal Reserve member Christopher Waller suggested a possible pause in interest rate hikes given easing inflationary pressures, easing some of the pressure on Asian markets. At the same time, expectations of a rate hike by the Bank of Japan prompted the yen to appreciate by 2%.
Regulatory developments and capital flows
Remarkably, the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF attracted a net inflow of US$730.87 million in one day, and BlackRock's IBIT fund alone attracted US$454 million in funds. As a result, the total assets of the Bitcoin Fund have exceeded US$103.34 billion, accounting for 6.32% of the total Bitcoin supply. The Ethereum ETF also witnessed an inflow of $141.24 million, while US$115.08 million of short ETH positions were closed.
Christopher Waller emphasized at the mid-September meeting that inflation remained moderate and supported maintaining stable interest rates.
How does the SEC's decision reshape the altcoin landscape?
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved a rule change for the NASDAQ Texas Exchange to introduce a digital commodity definition in its exchange rules, setting a new precedent. This regulatory change allows funds to hold up to 15% of their net asset value in instruments that did not initially meet compliance requirements, a direct example being trust holding cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
This policy development continues a trend from last year, when the SEC shortened the approval time for crypto ETPs. An extensive list of cryptocurrencies has also been established, highlighting important altcoins. In addition, T. Rowe Price's multi-asset ETF (code-named TKNZ) was approved, reflecting regulatory recognition of digital assets.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said the United States is close to becoming a cryptocurrency center and emphasized the need to complete the process.
Focus on upcoming legal and market events
While the SEC's commodity interpretation is welcomed, market participants are focusing on the upcoming CLARITY Act vote. A closing debate vote on the bill is scheduled for September 15, but a final decision may be delayed due to election results. At the same time, XRP-related ETFs continued to attract investment, marking eleven consecutive days of positive net inflows, pushing the supply of RLUSD on the XRPL network to more than US$1 billion.
Last month, the value of Zcash soared due to its association with advances in artificial intelligence. OpenAI's release of the GPT-6 Astra model has attracted widespread attention, but also raised concerns about the impact of AI on blockchain anonymity. Key stakeholders pointed out the following:
- Multiple regulatory adjustments have shortened the approval time for encryption products.
- A large amount of investment flows into bolsted Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs.
- Multi-asset crypto ETF received regulatory approval, demonstrating wider acceptance of digital assets.
- Increased attention to the intersection of blockchain technology and artificial intelligence.
During the same period, Notional Finance encountered security incidents, which led to precautionary listing actions by exchanges such as Binance and KuCoin. These measures highlight the continued vigilance to ensure security and innovation in the field of encryption.
