In commenting on a post detailing this situation, Musk said:
This is not good. Many industrial processes require silver.
China will begin implementing these control measures on January 1st. Companies will need permits and government approvals to carry out these activities.
China is the world’s second-largest silver producer, after Mexico. According to data from the Silver Industry Association, China produced 110.1 million ounces of silver in 2024.
