● Michael Selig has officially taken office as the chairman of the US CFTC.

According to Cryptobriefing, Michael Selig, a pro-Bitcoin figure, has been appointed chairman of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). He has already received confirmation from the US Senate.

In his statement, Selig mentioned that the CFTC is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by increased retail participation and the emergence of new products and platforms. He stated that the agency will play a more prominent role in establishing practical regulatory standards for the digital asset market, while also maintaining the stability and safety of the US derivatives market. Selig emphasized, “We are at a unique moment, with various new technologies, products, and platforms emerging. Retail participation in the commodity market has reached record levels. Congress is about to submit legislation regarding the structure of the digital asset market, further solidifying America’s status as the ‘capital of cryptocurrencies.’”

As of Monday, the proposal has received nearly 69 million votes in favor. Voting will conclude on Thursday (Christmas Day). After the proposal is approved, there will be a two-day waiting period before the fee options for Uniswap v2 and v3 are activated on the Unichain mainnet, resulting in the destruction of UNI tokens.

This proposal will destroy 100 million UNI tokens in the fund of the Uniswap foundation. Additionally, a system for discounting protocol fees will be implemented to increase the profits of liquidity providers. These changes are expected to significantly improve the supply and demand dynamics of UNI tokens, thereby enhancing their long-term value.

Hyperliquid released a statement in response to several criticisms of their platform in recent articles. The statement emphasizes that Hyperliquid operates on the basis of full on-chain transparency, with every dollar being traceable and verifiable. The company pointed out that critics overlooked the existence of HyperEVM USDC tokens, mistakenly claiming that the system lacks $362 million in funds.

The statement clarifies that testnet functions are only used for testing purposes and cannot be executed on the mainnet. There are no privileged users or fee exemptions on the platform. The CoreWriter function is also misunderstood; it does not allow for arbitrary token issuance or transfer of user funds.

Hyperliquid asserts that as the only major perpetual contract platform with fully transparent status information, anyone can run nodes to verify on-chain status. Every order, transaction, and settlement can be checked in real time, a feature that other major trading platforms do not offer.

CoinShares released its latest weekly report, indicating that funds flowed out of digital asset investment products for the first time in four weeks, with a total amount of $952 million. This reflects the market’s negative reaction to the delayed passage of the Clarity Act in the United States. The passage of this law has increased the uncertainty surrounding the regulation of such assets. Additionally, investors are concerned about continued selling by large institutional investors. Therefore, it seems unlikely that inflows into exchange-traded products will exceed last year’s levels. The total assets managed by these products are currently $46.7 billion, compared to an expected $48.7 billion in 2024. Ethereum experienced the largest outflows, totaling $555 million. Given that Ethereum could benefit or suffer the most from the Clarity Act, this is not surprising. It is worth noting that Ethereum’s inflows this year have surpassed last year’s figures, reaching $12.7 billion, compared to $5.3 billion last year. Bitcoin saw an outflow of $460 million, which is lower than expected. In 2024, expected inflows were $27.2 billion, while actual inflows were only $41.6 billion. Solana and XRP continued to receive support, with inflows of $48.5 million and $62.9 million, respectively.
